Lesson Learned. Alway get second opinon. Hi everyone, It is my first time posting and am pretty excited to do so. I had some technical difficulty with this site so it prevented me from posting at my time of need... but I wanted to give you guys an update on my poor little yorkie.
She has two rows of teeth, adult teeth growing next to the baby teeth. I had scheduled to get them extracted with her vet but a few days prior, her mood started to change. Frequent squatting/peeing, drinking lots of water, lethargic, whimpering, crying and not playful. I took her in for blood work and urine sample. $230 later he says everything is fine except her potassium level is a little high. I asked the doctor if there is anything I can do because it is just not normal. He said just watch her and if she got worse to bring her in... I didn't like the answer so I decided to go in for a second opinion.
I went to my old doctor where I used to take my cats. First thing he said was, "Dont tell me anything. I'm going to tell you the symptoms that you may see by what I can tell from the results of her test." At the end I found out she had crystals in her urine which the other doctor failed to let me know. Basically she is hurting when urinating and thats making her feel like she needs to go more... like human UTI. He also told me that she maybe acting down and not playful due to allergies. Her symptoms would be licking of paws, scratching of face and or body. Which she had been doing. And he did a quick exam to let me know her tear ducts were clogged... $65 later, I left with allergy meds, new food to try out for the crystals, and a piece of mind and hope that my pup is going to feel better soon!!!!
I had to share in case someone else is having a bad experience with a vet who is not very helpful... please go to a different one for a second opinion. Hopefully they will be as helpful as mine was. |
