| Found a Tick on Camrey! My daughter had Camrey out for about an hour tonight & when she came home, I noticed a small dot on her stomach, it was a tick!!! I got it off of her, thank goodness.. Brushed her & checked her whole body. Don't see anything else. She is on Frontline. What is Frontline supposed to do??? I want to run out and get her some flea & tick shampoo tomorrow and give her a bath. What else can I do??

| Frontline doesn't prevent ticks from getting on the dog. I think it kills them when the tick bites. I wouldn't use flea & tick shampoo on your little one. Just check her all over for ticks daily. I know that the really small ticks (less than the size of a head of push pin) won't be found until they become engorged.

| One tick is really nothing to freak out about.

| Lol, spoken from a true Maryland'er! One summer, I was picking two ticks off him a day. It's horrible but it's somewhat a fact of life in a lot of places. This was the same summer I was using Frontline, btw. Since switching to K9 Advantix, no problems.

YT 2000 Club Member | I would rather see a tick than fleas! We have had a very wet spring and the ticks are awful! Mine are treated with Frontline Plus and I have yet to find a tick on them, but I found a dead one on the bathroom floor! Just check them when they come in from outside.....it is really not a big deal. This is coming from a home grown country girl!

When Teddy was bitten by 3 ticks, I completely panicked and called our vet asking if I should bring him in right away (although I had removed the ticks). Our doctor laughed and politely tried to explain to me that Teddy was going to live. BLGuterl, I understand being concerned because of tick-born diseases.

| I totally freaked out when I found a tick on Magnus for the first time. LOL Like Deb1 said.. just check your pup when they come in from outside. I've been using some home remedy to repel ticks (I'm also using Advantix II) for "extra protection". I haven't found a tick on him since. It also helps with that doggie smell on a hot, humid summer day. He's not as stinky when we come back inside. LOL |

But otherwise, they are normal. I saw the first one of the season actually a few days ago - it was huugeee attached to the back leg, closer to his foot. I had given him a bath the night before so I don't know how I missed it or if just got that big in one day. But it seemed dead. It exploded from the tweezers, SO gross. We haven't applied Advantix in over a month, so I'll probably do another dose since I saw one. I refuse to remove ticks myself if I don't have to though - I make my dad do it hahaha.

I'm sure you did freak out when you saw that many ticks on Jackson. Don't ever google pictures of dogs with ticks. The tick bite on Teddy's knee on his back leg looked ridiculous, like a marble stuck to a pencil. Our vet told me it would take about 2 weeks to go away, and it did.

| All of this talk of ticks, and guess what I just found on Teddy's ear. He must have picked it up at noon today.

| It is Frontline Plus..... Camrey is due for her monthly dose today actually. I ended up calling the Vet this afternoon, too. She assured me that one tick was not a major concern, but understood me worrying about any tick-born diseases/illnesses. She recommended I get Camrey the Lyme Disease Vaccine. Any thoughts on that? My niece had her dog vaccinated. I didn't even know there was a Lyme Disease vaccine until my niece mentioned it last night. As usual everyone's responses have been helpful & informative! Thanks!
