| Oh, I hope your baby will be okay. I don't know about the regular Benedryl. My vet has always told me to use Children's Benedryl. I give Kayla about 1/2 tsp. I have given her up to a tsp. to get fever down and relax her when she has an episode of CT. Praying for him he will be okay. |

| From petmd.com: For immediate first aid, try to induce vomiting with a simple hydrogen peroxide solution of one teaspoon per five pounds of body weight, with no more than three teaspoons given at once. This method should only be used if the drug has been ingested in the previous two hours, and should only be given three times, spaced apart at ten minute intervals. If your dog has not vomited after the third dose, do not use it, or anything further, to try to induce vomiting. Do not use anything stronger than hydrogen peroxide without your veterinarian's advice. If your dog has already vomited, do not try to force more vomiting.I read 2 hours relative to ingestion of other things too on other sites. I think I would call the poison hotline while someone looks for hydrogen peroxide

| I can't (or won't) say to induce vomiting if the vet didn't tell you to. What I would say is find an ER vet who tells you to. There is no reason to let that drug process. And he is probably acting like that because of the phenylephrine. Can't find a toxic dose for it (probably didn't hit it with that pill), but these drugs just aren't things that dogs should have to process. What's his pulse and respiration? It could be completely optional if the toxic dose hasn't been reached. There is just no reason to let questionable drugs process though.

| OK, we have hydrogen peroxide. I should probably call our ER vet back first and ask if they think this is okay... Jackson is not acting lethargic, or anything, his heart does not seem to be beating too fast. But he's acting a little funny, only I would be able to tell, ya know? Our usual schedule is he comes into my bedroom with me, we close the gate, he goes under the bed for 1 hour or 2 and then hops in with me... he's just wanting to be out of my bedroom right now which is odd... If I call vet and they say i can give hydrogen peroxide, how in the world am i supposed to do get it down his throat?

| I agree with you and Crystal -- have ER vet advise on inducing. If confirmation given, I hope he will just drink it.

| I have induced vomiting in my dogs many times and I agree with the others - it is better to get it back than to process the drug. I hope that Jackson is ok.

| You can also call aspca poison control and get advice. Syringe or spoon it into his mouth/down his throat. Don't give him a choice. Decongestants can cause people to be "off" too.

I don't have hydrogen peroxide in my house...and an emergency situation is a bad time to be having to run to the store. Adding it to my shopping list.

| Brit, I would try calling emergency vet again and just updating them on his behaviour and see what they say. You know how Jackson is normally and if he is "off" is normal behaviour than let them know that. It certainly cannot hurt to see what they say, you can never be too cautious. Are you calling Annapolis? if not, here is their number 410.224.0121

| Always remember it's 3% hydrogen peroxide and not peroxide hair dye! Also, it's not safe to do with some things (harsh chemicals, sharp objects), so it's a good practice to ask a vet first. I've induced more than I'd like to think about. Not a lot of fun.

| Yes and it needs to be fresh and bubbly - I had to run one of mine to the ER when flat hydrogen peroxide didn't work! So I routinely check by puting my ear to the bottle for the fizz sound.

| Just my opionion, I would try to get the proxide down and then go on to the ER just to be on the safe side. I think everyone has given good advice on trying to get him cleared of any toxins but I am a worry wart and I would go as fast as I could go to the ER. Its worth you being at ease and knowing he is getting good and the right care. Good luck. |

| OK, vet finally got back on phone, said she is not too concerned with the amount of meds he got but if I wanted to induce vomiting I can and to do it now. She said it's hard on the stomach, which is a downfall, but if I felt more comfortable, to do it. And that don't be concerned if I don't see the pill, something with the lining of it, etc. I just gave him one tablespoon per her instructions... like 60 seconds ago. How long until he pukes??
