| Plaque Attack - Legit or Typical Infomercial Scam? I'm sure many of you fellow yorkie owners have been faced with some pretty high dental cleanings and/or extractions, despite some diligent effort to brush your yorkie's teeth...at least I know that I have. Just through ignorance, we figured if we kept our little guys away from soft foods and table scraps, used Greenies from time to time, and brushed their teeth once a month we would be able to keep the teeth of our little guys in good shape. Last year after a suggested dental cleaning (which is not cheap), each of our guys lost 2 or 3 teeth and their gums were not in the best of shape...which was not fun to find out. I was really thrown back by this, but the vet sort of put me at ease and said they have plenty of teeth and will be able to live a perfectly normal life. Dental problems with toy breeds are common, the vet stated it having a lot to due with small jaws and crowding of teeth. They also suggested annual teeth cleanings... I sort of balked at the idea of having my little guys put under every year to have their teeth cleaned...so I decided to try and brush their teeth more frequently and we started using a blue colored water additive made by Simple Solution. This years dental cleaning went a lot smoother, no tooth extractions and their gums were in a lot better shape, but the vet did say the teeth are heavily stained and may not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned...he did commend me on my teeth cleaning efforts. I did some research and was about to pull the trigger on this product called Pet Kiss Plaque and Tartar Control: Plaque & Tartar Control (water additive) - 32 oz. (16 oz x 2) [PLAQUE32oz] - $36.99 : PetKiss.com, All Natural Pet Products But then I recently saw an infomercial for this stuff called Plaque Attack: Plaque Attack Reviews - Healthy Teeth and Bad Breath Treatment for Pets Seemed pretty simple? Just spray on daily... Does anyone have any first hand experience with either this Pet Kiss stuff or the Plaque Attack stuff? Or if anyone has any other dental care suggestions that would be great. Thanks! Last edited by jinhopark; 03-14-2011 at 06:30 AM. |

After doing some more research many claimed that a cheaper version of this Plaque Attack stuff would be this product from petzlife. Natural Pet Products, Dog Dental Care - PetzLife BTW, before I get flamed...I do not work for the companies of any of the above listed products in my threads. Thanks!

| I love Petzlife... it looks like it's very similar. I think it works great. I got the Petzlife gel rather than the spray because Jackson HATED the spray... but the gel works like a charm.

| When you say it works, does that mean it eliminates dentals at the vet's office? I am currently trying a product called Tropiclean. If it doesn't eliminate vet visits they are going to refund my money! (They just don't know it yet) |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I can also say I LOVE Petzlife gel! Its amazing! I just use this a couple of times of week along with brushing and I will never go without it! Then for toothpaste I use C.E.T toothpaste or Oxyfresh pet gel, (just depending what I have on hand) and Oxyfresh Oral hygiene solution. The Oral Hygiene solution is a water additive but can be used to spray directly in the mouth. I just bought a small 2 oz spray bottle in the travel section and spray that in her mouth.. Works great also! She also uses the C.E.T Chews which I can tell make a huge difference. I am a maniac and do brush twice a day, but it does make a HUGE difference!

| To the OP, do a search for Petzlife and you will find many previous discussions about it here. I'm going to start using it on my 4, but it's too soon to tell how it works. Brister, how often to you use it on Jackson, and do you do regular daily brushing too?

I too am thinking about getting fantatical about the whole teeth cleaning thing...but before I do, is combining all these treatments all at once doing more harm than good? I am not a vet, nor a chemist...but should we be spraying, applying gel, brushing daily (or more), adding additives to pet drinks, giving dental treats, etc... Will there be any harm of overdosing on a certain chemical, or will certain chemicals adversely interact with others? Are these products supposed to be used solely on their own, or is it fine to use multiple treatments at once without any ill effects? As long as it is not introducing new hazards to the pets life, then I am all for it...I am looking for ways to reduce the number of dental cleanings for my little guys, because the thought of them going under and possibly not waking up makes me really nervous.

| I was also wondering if Plaque attack worked as good as it looks on that comerical. It is suppose to be human grade, and the lady spray's it in her mouth too. I think I will stick to the gel . Dental problems are so hard to control in small breeds , especially when they age. I do let my girls have bully sticks to chew on , I think that helps too.

Yes, I am a fanatic about teeth cleaning.. But I do have a routine for cleaning and NO I don't use all of this every single time I brush. Here is my little routine: I do brush morning and night. I find this the most beneficial part. No matter what product you use, I truly believe regular brushing makes ALL the difference. Right now I am using C.E.T toothpaste. Because I am out of the Oxyfresh. Thought I would try it and so far I really like it. As far as Petzlife gel goes, I do use this as a weekly treament. I only use it once a week, and if I am using this I opt out on brushing with toothpaste. I use this in place of the toothpaste. For the C.E.T chews , she gets 1 chew once a day. Alot of others give Bully sticks, Flossies, Texas toothpicks etc.. I just decided to try these as well. I really think chewing helps teeth and reduce plaque buildup. Find what works for you... I am really impressed with these so far and she LOVES them! Lastly as far as the water additive I have this on hand but I honestly don't use this very often. I sometimes will spray this in her mouth for a quick little rinse. But mostly BRUSHING is the most important thing..

| I use Healthy Mouth as an additive. https://www.healthymouth.com/dogs/dogs It is not cheap but cheaper than loosing teeth I figure. Buster will be up for his first 1 year check up soon so I will be interested to hear what his dentist says. They initially recommended this when he had to have his retained baby canine's removed. I like it because all the ingredients are natural. I fill up a bottle with the additive and water and fill his bowls from that. From their site. Recommended by leading board certified veterinary dentists, dog::ESSENTIAL healthymouth™ is the first dental water additive to receive the VOHC® Seal of Acceptance for plaque control in dogs. Its patented formula, free of synthetic or artificial ingredients, is clinically proven to reduce plaque by a remarkable > 71% in dogs. Safe, highly palatable formula for your dog and pre-dosed packets for you makes dental care a win-win! I also brush with the CET toothpaste and use their chews.

Right now I am only using Petzlife once a week and brushing with toothpaste once a week. He also gets bully sticks and himalayan chews.
