| "The Toto" weighs in!!! Big day for Toto .... maybe I should say ... good day for "Big Toto"?! Took Toto to Dr. Lucy's for a scratching problem she has developed this week .... weighed in at 4 lbs!!! After trying to get those lousy 7 ozs. off her and depriving her of her faves .... we weighed 4 lbs?!!!! Don't get me wrong .... we don't care if she gets as big as a St. Bernard ... except we don't want any health problems or bad knees. Dr. Lucy pronounced her 4 lbs. of muscle! not fat! That's what we wanted to hear ... no marshmallow girl here! THAT was the good news ... the BAD news is she appears to be allergic to one of the dyes in our new berber carpet! Got instructions to steam clean, got antihystemine and treatment for her coat which has been affected also. Suddenly got dry, dull and matty! If all else fails ... I will personally rip out 92 yds. of carpet!!! Is there a market for "slightly used" berber?? [actually 1 week old!] Hopefully Dr. Lucy's instructions will be the ticket and we will be scratch-free and the coat treatment will save her from a "buzz cut"!!

| What if you temporarily put a throw rug on top of the berber? Maybe Toto will "outgrow" her allergies. |

| I don't know if she can avoid that carpet, but perhaps some of that Apple spray will keep her away from the area? So that she won't get allergic? |

| Thanks guys! I bought one of those "lights" that will show "invisible" sources of pet odor ... called a "Stink Finder". It's really neat ... an ultra-violet light I got from PetSmart just to double check and keep The Toto "honest"! Pat turned it on last night just to check up on her and it showed little specs of something in the carpet. Soooo we are going to begin cleaning it every day for a while and see if it helps. It had already been cleaned after installation and we are still in the process of getting all the furniture back in place. Since it's new I really don't want to have to have it steamed unless absolutely necessary. I don't care about the expense but I just don't want to have to move all this furniture around! At any rate, we are going to try the meds, the coat repair and daily cleaning of the carpet for a few days and see if the scratching improves! P. S. Also looks like the only place Miss Prissy Paws is releiving herself is indeed on her weewee pads!!!

| You could take out the carpet and bring it to the rally at The Rock. 92 yards of it should take care of 30 Casitas and a few Prevos! Pat and Don could install it while we party! hehehehe Dyes are funny things. My English Setters were allergic to the red dyes found in many commercial dog foods and 25 years ago, it was hard to buy any dog foods WITHOUT that dye. Don had a girlfriend before he met me (now known in our household as "That Other Woman") whose child was very allergic to dyes in food. What a pain! I hope the every day cleaning works! And maybe just the passage of time will help. How about opening the windows and airing it out as much as you can? And give Toto a hearty pat on the back for developing all that nice healthy muscle!!! Higgins little body is as hard as a rock! You can even SEE his little muscles. Cute. It's so nice to know they are HEALTHY! I was at my doc this morning, having my big toenail removed (NOT fun) and he had his 4 month old Cocker Spaniel, "Harley", with him at the office. So darling! He and Higgins had a great time after Harley got used to Higgins "in your face, I'm runnin' rings around you" attitude. |

The muscle Toto's developing doesn't surprise us ... she's becoming quite the little acrobat! She seems really happy to be home and have Kayla over all the time. We also realized that she could have been acting a little droopy because Kayla was gone for a week on a trip to Gatlinburg, TN with her youth group! Didn't occur to me that could have been part of the problem until she got back yesterday and Toto absolutely went "bananas" when she saw her!! The two of them are both "high energy" and after visiting for awhile ... they both curled up on the bed watching TV and took a long nap!! How's the "great toe?" I know that had to be painful ... but will feel lots better after it heals! Here's hoping! Don't you love finding docs that are animal lovers? Our "eye doc" in Lake Chaz is an animal person and Toto is welcome at his office! That makes it nice!
