| I was feeding Cody Wellness Super Max for Puppies, which is a good food. However, he picked at it and it was difficult to get him to eat very much. My daughter came over with her puppy, and puppy food, Blue Buffaloe for Puppies and Cody loved it. So we switched and he eats it really well. Both are great foods but I guess he likes BB better. Go figure.... |

Dog Food Reviews, Ratings and Comparisons or just search: dog food reviews I've tried quite a few foods in the 5 years of having my Yorkie, Annie. Every dog is a little different..just read up on the foods, their ratings and contents. Right now we are using Wellness Core Reduced Fat dry food, and moistening it with water. adding a little cottage cheese and diceing up Fresh Pet Chicken (its a refrigerated dog food, comes in a roll like a big sausage) and Annie loves it. I make a batch for 3 days and keep it refrigerated. She was having lots of stinky, nasty poo problems, but this combo works well for her and the both foods have a good rating. No more problems. Some dogs don't tolerate foods that have high quantities of grain.....its just a trial and error thing until you find the one that works and is going to keep your dog healthy. ![]() the things we do for our dogs! No, but you can check it out. Most stores sell the .88lb trial bags of Orijen and Acana too so you can test it out. Here was a thread talking about size w/ pics, etc http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...na+kibble+size Nature's Variety Instinct (another food I love, and fed for 8 months before finding Acana/Orijen) is pretty small kibbles, as is Fromm.

Several weeks ago I adopted a tiny baby girl who weighed less than a pound at the time. I free feed Acana to my other pups, and once she discovered their Acana she completely refused to eat her old food. She would sit there with her tiny little mouth crunching away on a piece of kibble until she had it all gone, then she'd go back for another piece. She's 2.12 pounds now and it's the Acana like a big girl. I just want to add that normally foods should be switched gradually to prevent upset tummies.

| My dogs have never eaten commercial dog food except when they go stay at my dad's for a weekend. I can tell you, when they come home from his house they are sick for 2 days. For three years I fed them Nutro, but it was recalled WAY too many times for my taste. I switched to Wellness Small Breed (avoid the seafood kind) and have never looked back. My dogs are very healthy and have very healthy "potty" habits. It may be expensive, but it's worth it to not go to the vet often.

...Prince eats Blue Buffalo, Solid Gold Wee Bits and Wellness. He has eaten Blue and Solid Gold for years, and Wellness for about three months. He loves all three, but Wellness seems to be his favorite...maybe because it's rather new to him, and we use it as a treat. All three produce firm, small and not too "fragrant" poops.

| YT Addict | well guys, i went and returned the Iams. i bought a BIGGG bag of BB, and put it down for Hazel. she went RIGHT to it and started eating it up! i was sooo happy! i thought it was going to take a while for her to eat it, but no. she NEVER ate the iams like that. i had to "convince" her by adding water, microwaving and adding honey... i thought i was going to have to do the same with the BB but she gobbled it up! thank you ALL for your opinions! |

| Just as a reminder you have to slowly change her food. One third new - two thirds old for the first day. Half and half the second day. Two thirds to one the third day and by the fourth day ( I would go more). But that should avoid any upset tummies for the puppy. Or else you will have her getting sick. |
