YOu would really like her and blood work is much cheaper through her than a vet as it is non-profit. I drive further than you would have to get blood work done by her as well as titers

here is something to read and what i got out of this that is critical for this thread is: Vets are NOT required to report adverse reactions to vaccines This is why we do not see the true statistics of what is happening with vaccinations. Also many reactions show up as life long illnesses that are triggered by them and not necessarily a life or death situation after the vaccination. Again it states to be given to healthy dogs only.

Both Max and Cooper went to the vet today for their vaccines - Max his 2nd set of puppy shots and Cooper his annual.

I am a dog lover and owner, not a vet. I trust my vet, although now I see that Cooper probably had way more shots today than is necessary. I am not well educated in vaccines or even dog health, however YT has opened my eyes (but apparently not wide enough).

I will print this out and bring this to my vet. My vet listens to me but I need more education on what it is that I want for my pets. I have done some research and get so much conflicting information on vaccines that it gets so confusing.

Thank goodness both of my boys have not had a reaction. I'm currently doing research so that I don't make any future mistakes.

Okay, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the state of Florida. My vet says the Rabies shot is needed every year because they only give the 1 year vaccination, not the 3 year one??

My old vet gave the 1 year rabies, and my new vet gives the 3 year rabies. I don't know the difference and I am sure someone else will be able to help more but I just wanted to let you know that there are vets in Florida that give the 3 year.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I want to make sure I am understanding this correct....after they have had their initial puppy vaccines the only vaccine that needs to be re-administered is the rabies vaccine every 3 years? Is that right?

I'm so glad this post was ressurected...As fur kid parents, we should be, constantly, researching what is best for our babies, in this arena...I, probably, spend more time combing over articles, written by reputable associations and veterinarians, than any other topic to do w/our "kidz"...

As far as I know the rabies vaccine is a 3 yr.vaccine, but you have to get the shot befor the 3 yrs.is up on the next one. If you get the shot and its over the one yr. date,then they say its a 1yr. vaccine.

Rabies vaccines are governed by state .. and/or local laws but vary from one to the other. I just posted a link from the AVMA that has information from each state.

Rabies as a puppy vaccine, then one year later, then every one to three years depending on state.

DHP as puppy, then about one year later, then the schedule varies by vet. Some never do it again. Most do it every one to three years. Depends on your and their preferred protocol. Every year is way too much.

Non-core vaccines are usually given at least once a year and that is only if they are needed at all.
