				 | Nancy1999, I'm wondering if maybe the changes are to the big huge bags (40lbs., is what I think mine are) and "maybe" the smaller bags (20lb. or whatever) has already been changed? I'm not very clear on this. It does say too that they have already changed "3" formulas which evidently includes their Dachshund 28. [B]My greatest concern[B] my greatest concern is that my dogs (YORKIE, SHORKIE, SHIH TZU, and ENGLISH BULLDOG with a belly made of iron! LOL) can't handle such super concentrated levels of proteins. The brand I used had Lamb Meal and Lamb Meat to contain only 21% protein and like 12.50% Fat which is way way way less than what Canida will have with their new changes. This ordeal of switching to the 21% protein DID kill my 4 lb Yorkie and almost took out the others. My Vet bills can prove this but the strange thing is that it even effected the dog that had been born and raised on that brand, he went to IAMS and was fine but them went back to his "birth brand food" and it almost took him out. Since the loss of the 4 lb pup, I've spoken to many other people that had used that brand food and have lost their pets. In my own mind.....nobody could convince me that it wasn't the food. Maybe I'm just paranoid after that incident but to go from 15% protein to 65%.........not happenin here. If I have to, I'll start cooking my own is all. ROFL but my cookin isn't the greatest (just ask my hubby) either! Peggy |

I've written to Royal Canin since I have mine delivered to my home too. But since their offices are closed until Monday morning I won't expect an answer until sometime next week.

I recently switched to a kibble that the manufacturer says has a minimum of 24% crude protein, but they don't state the maximum level. | |

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Well, I can't shed any light on the situation except to say, I know the Yorkshire 28 formula that I have been buying has contained chicken meal, for well over a year now. I've been using it for three, but don't remember exactly when I read the ingredients, but I know it's been at least a year. Even though chicken meal is the first ingredient, the crude protein in only 28%. The bag I have does not contain wheat gluten, so I can't comment on that.

				 | Yes, I did. However, their response to me according to e-mail I received cannot be shared with out their permission......So, I've requested their permission and have not received a response back. But, to share a bit with you, according to them the changes do not increase the protien levels and the glueten is more easily digestiable.....I will be making a phone call in the morning to get further clarification and information on how and why.

				 | Thank you! My baby is on Royal Canine 33, but I was thinking of switching to something better anyway. |

				 | Well that change to include wheat gluten just means I have one less brand to consider when I put Zoey on adult food in the future. Besides the serious and in some cases deadly gluten problem in pet food that occurred, I have Celiac and I plan to do my best to avoid as much wheat gluten as I can, for my family as a whole.

				 | Really glad to hear! I only use RC 33, it is easy to start them on, the pups usually switch themselves to Horizon at about 8 weeks. That gives them a month on the "good" stuff before they leave home! Keep us posted on what Nancy has to say, Mardelin.

				 | My Maddie was on RC for a while before I figured out the corn in it was causing her to lick/bite at her feet. Since eliminating corn from her diet, it has stopped. |

				 | Since this is re: Royal Canine, I have a question. I just switched from nutro hollistic puppy to Royal Canine. I am feeding her 3/4 nutro and 1/4 royal canine so it's easier on her. I don't know if I am doing something wrong because she had diarrhea all night last night. She has never had diarrhea. Yesterday was the first day I mixed food. Does this typically happen? Any info would be much appreciated. Kelly |
