| My Peawee is 5 now and he's been on allergy medicine since he was 1. I'm sure everything will work out fine.

Well, I am happy to report that all of Miracle's bloodwork came back normal. YAY!1 still waiting on the thyroid test, even though I live in Michigan it still takes a while. I moved her appointment with the dermotologist to the 8th of Feb. After speaking with them and reading the posts on here, I called her vet this morning he only gave her antibiotics for 10 days, she had a staph infection they as you all did here recommend going for 25 to 30 days so I am waiting to hear back from him, because I believe that can cause the itching also. I don't believe she likes the fish oil and not even sure if its working since I have been giving it to her for almost a month now and her skin is still dry and flaky. I am going to do an oatmeal bath over the weekend.

honestly if staph go to vet and get duoxo chlorhexedine shampoo as chlorhexedine kills bacteria as they use it on dentals as well as i used it this last weekend on my staph girl who reacts to every vet shampoo and no red bumps no reaction and the vets are raving about this shampoo - if your vet does not have it call around - i called mfg and they were very nice and explained to me and I finally tried it and it worked pretty good. yeah no way would 10 days on antibiotics work for skin issues - for skin issues you have to be antibiotics for 25 days minimum as what happens is when you stop it comes back with a vengeance even worse as my girl got hives on simplicef on day 17 and she did not have staph that bad well it came back 10xs worse because we stopped the antibiotic early. Also make sure to do probiotics 2 hrs after antibiotics and i always double up probiotics while taking antibiotics so dd is on a double dose now and has been and will be until a week after antibiotics then i will go back to normal dose

| here is some info on this Medial Luxating Patella Luxating Patellas Medial patellar luxations are graded to assess severity. Grade I: The kneecap can be moved out of place manually but will fall back into its natural position once the manipulator lets go. Grade 2: Same thing except that the kneecap does not move back to its normal position when the manipulator lets go. Grade 3: The patella is out of place all the time but can be manipulated back into its normal position manually (though it will not stay there). Grade 4: The patella is not only out of place all the time but cannot even be manipulated back into place by hand. Such a dog has extreme difficulty extending his knees and walks with his knees bent virtually all the time. |

I also asked the dermo about the probiotics because I have seen you mention it before but they suggested not to do this. I will say this, I did NOT actually speak with the doctor but the vet tech. I have not taken her to see Dr. Bloom yet but he comes HIGHLY recommend and it suppose to be one of the best in Michigan. I don't know the difference between a staph infection and a skin staph infection. I can tell you that she smelled and no longer does but she is very dry and itching all the time. She does not have any open sores but you can see where she has gnawed and scratched and she leaves red marks on her.

My derm is not real up on probiotics either but since i have dealt with an allergy dog for 5 years the two years she was on coconut oil and probiotics she had NO DIARRHEA and NO SKIN INFECTIONS so I know it works and now our vet just recommended it and i said sorry already doing it he said make sure hypoallergenic and i said YEP doing that too - the dds plus works big time it is non-dairy which is hypoallergenic. I just know once i stopped it in feb of 2009 my dog got a staph in two months and then got clostridium which is diarrhea as the body is out of balance with bad bacteria over growth which is what probiotics help to keep an out of balance dog be balanced. My other two dogs are not on them as they are balanced but my allergy dog will be on that for the rest of her life as this year has been a NIGHTMARE since taking her off them Since i put her back on them 1/4 no more diarrhea at all and that was a week before antibiotics so trust me they work. Dermatology is conventional medicine and probiotics falls more under nutritional so many are not up on all the nutritional aspect. It is your call but i know it works at least with my dog it has and it is healthy will not hurt them so worth a shot

Having SO many allergies myself it is hard to watch her like this, I just want to make her feel better and see what it is that is EXACTLY bothering her.

| no they do not stop eating with allergies as my dog is a pig unless maybe the food is making her ill and she has inflammatory bowel disease which many dogs that have allergies also have ibd - does your dog have diarhea alot or vomit? Yes coconut oil is a fatty acid and helps with dry skin - some meds like antibiotics make them naseated though and upset the tummy if you are not giving with food so maybe this is it? are you giving meds and if so what ones? |

She has been eating Wellness Venison and Sweet Potato. I increased the amount of fish oil I was putting on it about a week ago and ever since then she was eating less and then today, nothing. I have not put the fish oil on a for a few days because I thought perhaps that is why she was not eating as much. No diarreha and no vomiting. Her stool was a little loose yesterday but nothing to bad. Nope no medicine right now she was on Delta Albaplex (sp?) but has been off for over a week now. I just don't get all her tests came back normal. We are still waiting on the thyroid but this should be back in a couple of days. How long can she go without eating?
