I am going to check on the diarrhea but I know as of yesterday and this morning there was none. I just want to find out what is going on with her and start the process to make her better. Find out what EXACTLY she is allergic to or if perhaps this is a thyroid issue. I also read that Olive Oil can help as far as the dry skin, some say to put it on their food and other's to rub on the dry skin with a cotton ball. have you heard of any of this?

| Just a little fyi about medicated shampoos for dogs. My vet recommends Dermabenss or Pyoben for staph infections. I has benzoil peroxide in it. She recommends Chlorhexiderm (has chlorhexidene) for dry skin, but not for staph.

Poor Lady battles staph infections all the time since she is diabetic. I use Benzoil Plus shampoo. It's got moisturizers in it. I get it from Entirely Pets: Western Medical Benzoyl-Plus Shampoo A lot of people don't realize that Clearasil is also benzoil peroxide. I have had excellent results using that on staph breakouts on Lady. Other people I've recommended it to have also seen great results.

I do not see any harm that could cause. Always wise to let the vets diagnose! I hope she is better soon!

My George has problems with staph infections....secondary to his allergies. I think I am going to try that shampoo that you buy...see if it is any better than the one my vet carries. She recently changed the one she uses and I don't care for the scent. All of those do have an odor, but this one is worse.

No i do not think not eating is hypothyroid issue as dee dee is hypothyroid too. I do know with dex I was so desperate with dd that i had an animal communicator come out and at the time i was putting dermacaps one day, fish oil next day, and flaxseed oil the next day and rotating these oils on food and she said is one of your dogs vomitting and i said yeah on occassion but when i am not home so not sure who it is - she said it is Dexter as he gets nauseated when he smells the food so what are you putting on it and i told her she said stop and I did but ironically 6 mos later dex had pancreatitis and ibd in small intestines so she picked up on him having an issue with fatty acids 6 mos earlier and i never gave them to him after that for 6 mos but dex has high tryglycerides on 12 hr fast which is high fat content in blood naturally so by adding it to food it was making him sick to his stomach. Just thought i would share this as maybe this is happening to your dog as well and why she is refusing to eat it thinking it has the fish oil in it. Not all dogs like fish food as my demi will not touch anything fishy smelling.

Douxo - Chlorhexidine PS Shampoo DOGS & CATS (6.8 fl oz) especially since i have used a bunch of vet shampoos like malaseb, ketachlor, etc and dd had horrible reactions and never had a reaction to this a week ago and her coat was soft, no stinky smell, and skin looked great afterwards. The vet also recommended this and said he is seeing great things with this shampoo. Also on my allergy group they all use chlorhexedine shampoos with great success as we are constantly battling staph infections although due to coconut oil and probiotics dd has never had one until this year when i stopped it

| Chlorhexidine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Use in animals For use in animals, it is used as a topical disinfectant of wounds. It is more effective in killing bacteria (bactericidal) than both povidone-iodine and saline, and has residual effects up to 6 hours. Some common brand names are ChlorhexiDerm, ResiChlor, Germi-STAT Antimicrobial Skin Cleanser, Nolvasan Skin and Wound Cleaner, and Nolvasan Ointment. It is also more beneficial to wound healing than using saline solutions alone.[12] Note, however, that problems[13] including deafness[14] have been associated with the use of chlorhexidine products in cats. It is commonly used to manage the skin infections suffered by Westie dogs. Last edited by dwerten; 01-25-2010 at 06:03 PM. |

I was using Chlorhexidrine on my foster, Sunny D, who has comedones; and my vet told me to switch to Benzoil Peroxide and his skin is now improving. I have used Benzoil Peroxide on George for years as suggested by my vet. Works for me.

I called segoval and spoke to the vet from this company as well and she said this is used for staph so not sure why she would say this as well as vet and dermatologist if Benzoyl is the shampoo of choice for staph but wouldn't be the first time i was let down by vet profession It just makes sense to me it is a bacteria and chorhexidine kills bacteria Last edited by dwerten; 01-25-2010 at 06:20 PM.
