| Neutering, Humping & won't go back in My puppy was neutered a week & a half ago. He's still humping his dog bed, and his lipstick came out all the way. Is this supposed to happen? I thought it was supposed to stop after neutering. Also, the other day he was humping & it wouldn't go back in. I'm not kidding. I researched on-line & it said if it gets dry it won't go back in. He looked VERY uncomfortable. Usually he stops humping if he sees us looking at him, or will drag his dog bed out of our view. I knew something was wrong because he froze in place & stood there the whole time with it out until I looked up on-line what to do. It was about 10 minutes. I'm worried this might happen when I'm not home. Any suggestions. He's my first dog so I don't know how "normal" this is. |

| I think your dog got "excited." The same thing happened to my non-yorkie and I had never seen it before. Scared the bejeesus out of me because he was still on all fours, but he was just humping air basically. I called the vet. They made the most shy girl there call me back and tell me it is normal, and that is what happens when dogs mate.

| He definitely was "excited" but it wouldn't go back in. He was still on all fours, but wasn't humping the air, he looked VERY panicky. And the base looked swollen like testes, but he was just neutered. I looked it up & found on a Maltese forum it happened to someone and people recommended putting something on it to help it go back in. I have to ask the vet, but I'm currently looking for a new one closer to home. I'd appreciate any help from others. |

Make sure that the hair around his sheath is clipped short.....if it isn't at times it can hinder it from retracting. If this happens you may have to gently pull the hairs out. You can assist by applying KY jelly for lubrication.

| This only happened ONCE with Jackson where his thing came out... lol. I was all freaked out. And it was a week after his neuter too. It takes up to a month sometimes to get it all out of his system. It only happened that one time and never again.

| Whew, that's a relief. Let's hope that's the case with Winston. |
