| Hi there!! I see from some of your other posts, you're really having difficulties with your pup eating. I don't think there is anything wrong with mixing wet food with his kibble a few times a week. Just be sure to be on schedule with brushing his teeth. How old is he & how much does he weigh? How much is he actually eating each day? Do you leave it out at all times or put it down for meals? Blue is a pretty decent food, I know others had problems with their pups eating the life source bits. Some companies that I love and trust include: -Acana (this is what my Snickers' currently eats and he LOVES-eats daily) -Orijen -Innova -Fromm -Nature's Logic Have you considered a raw diet? Many picky eaters have chosen raw and their food issues are gone now. Snickers was SO picky and then I got him hooked on raw and now he eats like a champ. I hope something works out soon!! Hugs! Snick & Viv

| Thanks for your reply I recently posted this and no one answered: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-he-plays.html I've had issues with my Yorkie since he was a puppy, but he's 2 years old now. I brush his teeth daily, comb him daily, bathe him weekly to 10 days unless he goes to the groomer for a haircut. He was at the Vet for his yearly last month and was 7.4 lbs. Usually he eats one scoop plus twice a day, which a scoop is 1/4 cup. I leave food out all the time, and there are times if he eats everything in the bowl I won't leave any in there. At times I do leave a little less than a scoop. I have tried everything imagineable to get him to eat. It does seem like after a while, like when we are half to more than half done with a bag he is tired of that food. I have met other folks with other types of dogs whom have had that same issue too. He's been on Diamond when he was a puppy and I switched him to Professional which is the next step up that is found in our locally owned "Feeder's Supply". He's also been on: • Iam’s puppy & active puppy • (In-between mixed different wet food with dry Iam’s puppy) • Merrick’s dry & wet • Beneful mixed with Pedigree Butcher Select (wet) • Purina 1 • Royal Canine I tried once some of the raw, and it literally stunk as well as his poo. Plus, being a vegetarian, I couldn't handle it physically because of the smell. |

| I know what you mean, I was vegetarian for 15 yrs, and the thought of raw was not appealing to me either until I just went for it. If the raw you chose was stinky, then it may have not been a fresh piece or may have been from an off company. Raw actually has no smell what so ever, it actually smells like nothing, as I sniffed it the 1st time (lol) expecting it to stink. Just FYI. If he is eating 1/4 cup 2x a day, I would think that's a pretty good amount. I'm assuming he eats then about 1/2 cup a day? That's not too less. Adult dogs actually tend to eat less as they mature and if your pup is 2, then I don't see a problem. You could always try mixing in the wet food as well if you wish for him to eat more. I totally understand about them getting "tired" of their food. I think that is why many on here choose a food which multiple varieties. Out of the companies you mentioned, the only one I would go with is Merrick. Did your pup eat well on Merrick? If so, try it again as they have MANY varieties of kibble in case he decides to get bored often. They also sell smaller 1lb bags as well which is nice for these picky guys. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Smiles!! Snick & Viv

| My little girl is a very picky eater too. She will not eat dry food if it is not mixed. So I mix her food daily. There are times when she will eat the wet food and spit the dry food out so now I am literally making her meatballs with the kibbles in the middle and it is working. She is finally eating on a daily basis. I hope you find a solutions soon - I know how stressful it is when they won't eat.

| I Appreciate Your Reply The raw didn't smell until it was thawed out, I believe. It was so long ago that all I recall was his poo smelling awful. I do know he's not going to eat a lot being a small dog, and if he's not wanting to eat if he doesn't feel good he will eat grass as I was told also. He choked on the Merrick's wet when he was a pup and I had to take him to the animal emergency hospital. I forgot which dry he tried, but some bags he hardly ate and some he ate 1/2 to more until he got tired of it and wouldn't eat, like now. It seems like I find a good food and he loves it at first and the love fades. Will this problem be going on for all of his life~? The Vet told me "don't add any other foods to his food. Pick a food you like and stick with it and eventually he will eat". I worry a lot about him not eating since he wants treats all the time. I've cut that out until he eats. Tho I do give him a hip/joint chewy twice a day. |

| I mix wet food in with kibble for my girls breakfast meal. I don't mix alot , about a good tablespoon , they love it and eat the whole bowl. Then I just give them dry kibble for the rest of the day. They seem to know that they only get wet food mixed in for the a.m. meal and eat fine the rest of the day.

| Jackson was always a picky eater. I always had to mix in wet food with his dry. I now am feeding him Fromm Surf n Turf and he eats it really well just plain dry... but I still mix in wet food for him for his dinner a few times a week.

| Our Yorkie loves the Blue Buffalo food. He is doing really great on it. Sometimes if he doesnt seem to be interested in eating I will put it in my hand like treats and he eats it right up! I know hand feeding is a little time consuming and spoiling but I dont mind |

| One thing I do find helpful with picky eaters is putting them on a shceduled feeding as opposed to free feeding, taking food away after 15-20 minues if not eaten. Sushi used to be super picky with food as a puppy (she still is compared to the other two, but has got much better). One thing to realize though, is that these tiny guys have itty bitty stomachs, with very little room. Only a few kibbles would be ebough to fill them up.

| I went to get more food for my Yorkie tonight at Petsmart and talked to a trainer about my issues I've posted here. She told me that with her dog, she plays with them for 15 minutes, by using the dog food as treats. This gets them interested in their food, since some dogs aren't interested in eating. I am amazed how this trick really worked. But then again, I have been doing this to get him to eat off and on too. Maybe the food I have wasn't fresh and with this being a fresh bag, he ate like there is no tommorow. How do you all store your dog food~? |
