| Couver started lifting his leg around 5-5.5 months. Before he squatted much like a girl. He also didnt start humping until about 5.5-6 months. There is nothing wrong with your Lucky... he is quite normal!

| Thank you know i feel better about it. I really dont want him humping anytime soon Has anyone ever had anything done by the SPCA ?? Im considering taking Lucky there. Ive read horible reviews on local vets around my area and i think maybe the SPCA will be a beter place to take Lucky. |

So the clinic I am taking him to is $65 for the neuter, anesthesia and pain meds for that night. It's $35 to get him microchipped also. And he's having 2-3 baby teeth pulled - don't know how much they're charging for that. I'm extremely nervous about the surgery though but I think I'd be like that no matter where he was going! So it'll probably be a little over $100 total.

LOL. He always just humped this stuffed bear. He's actually been humping less and less in the last few weeks and he hasn't been neutered yet. He does mark outside and lifts his leg on EVERY tree. But never inside yet. He's 6 months old now and started lifting his leg around 4 1/2 months. But that's a big reason I want to get him neutered, before it starts inside. And honestly, I HOPE it makes him a little more cuddly! He can be a cuddler but only in the morning and when he's sleeping sometimes during the day... so I hope the nuetering makes him more a cuddly bear!

| I was worried that Chase's personality would change because I loved his spunky attitude. You'll be glad to know he's the same after the neuter. Hoping all goes well for you!

| Hot Rod has always been a mellow dog so his personality didn't change much. Good luck with the surgery. He'll be great!

| Milo is also getting neutered on April 24...one day after he turns 6 months old. So far he isn't marking and we haven't noticed any humping. Hopefully none will occur in the week that remains before surgery! He is the perfect mixture of feisty and cuddlebug...we hope that does not change as a result of surgery! |

I always though their personality changes, because there will be less testosterone in his body. Not sure though.

| Curious... My Dante turns 4 months in June. My vet (I consider to be a very good one) says that they neuter at 4 months of age. Should I wait 6 months to have my yorkie neutered or get him neutered at 4 months? Thanks,

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Since most yorkies have to have some of the baby teeth pulled, I would wait until some of the permanent teeth came in, you don't want him toothless. Unless your vet specializes in small breeds, he may not be aware that Yorkies don't lose their teeth on their own. Since this has to be done under anesthesia, it's best to do it all at once. If not done, yorkies were develop a double row of teeth, that leads to bad breath because of food build-up in the crevices, and also loss of permanent teeth.

I will wait until he's 6 months and then have them check/pull his teeth if needed, microchipped, and neutered all at once. Thanks for the advice.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That's what I did, I think we did a quick check up at around 6 months, and the vet gave us the ok to schedule surgery. It's nice to get everything taken care of at one time!

| All these pups are so young. My bentley is 4 yrs and we had been breeding him with other female dogs. now at his age. i was considering having him fixed (he seems to have aggression issues with other male dogs that he never has before) I figured he'd retire from his female chasing days and just have him fixed. He has never humped anything around the house. (is that weird?) I never saw it as a big need. He doesn't roam the streets knockin up dogs that doesn't want to be. lol you know? But now that he seems to try and establish his alpha male I am considering, as he is mean to my friends pom. My only concern is he will turn mean. . I've heard of several (not yorkies) males becoming very mean once they are neutered(especially to people) so I didn't want to take the step and regret it. anyone have any thoughts or experience? |

| Genghis's personality didn't change. He still humps, though he doesn't air hump anymore (where he's humping a dog and you pull him off and he's still humping in the air) He still get's the occasional "lipstick" in the morning after licking it. Oh yeah, and we had to re-potty train the guy. After many treat's he is almost as potty trained as before the operation. For three consecutive days after the operation he surprised us by potting on our bed. |
