| How do you feed your York? How much do you give them and how often? I am torn between filling her lil bowl in the am and letting her eat throughout the day and giving her some in the am and some in the pm. Is one way better than the other? Or does it matter? And should I be giver her more...or maybe less? She's 4 so obviously what I've been doing has been okay, but I want to make the best choice for her now that I've read a little more and have thought some about it.... She eats dry food- lil small pieces, I can't remember the brand ATM but it's the only kind she'll eat! Thanks in advance! |

| I guess it depends on the dog and how many dogs you have. I leave food out all day (in my bedroom, which Riley is not allowed to go) for Casey. I have always fed her this way, cuz she is so tiny 3.2 lbs and want to make sure she has something available whenever she wants it. Now Riley is a different story! He gets fed twice a day. If I left food out all day for him I think he would be 20lbs!! (he is 7.5lbs.)

| I free feed. I just let his food sit out all day. But usually every other morning, I'll give him some wet food mixed in.

| I feed Snick 2 tablespoons dry mixed with 1 tsp wet in the morning. In the afternoon--snack of apples, bananas, and a bit of cottage cheese or yogurt. Then in the evening I leave his kibble out from 4:30pm-7pm 1/4 cup and he eats it all by 7pm. I leave Sweet Potato chews out all day which he chews and nibbles on. He has 2-3 poops a day.. Smiles---

My schedule is almost the same In the morning I feed 2 tbsp. of dry mixed with about 1 tsp. canned for Chloe and I do the same for Sydney just a little more of each. Then about an hour or so later I put their dry kibble down and leave it for the rest of the day so they can free feed... mine seem to eat more of it towards the evening. Around noon mine will get yogurt , sometimes I mix blueberries or another fruit with it , sometimes it's just plain. They get some treats throughout the day for pooing and training.

| I feed my Tink puppy meat - one pouch in the morning and one at night (or evening). She wont touch biscuits if it was the last food on the planet, she's always been really fussy but I've found a brand that she loves - although it costs me an absolute fortune!!! I leave it out during the day, if it starts to dry out I'll bin it. xXx |

| I free fed Molly. I feel like she barely eats anything. The person who had her before fed her Purina Little Bites (or something like that) so I have just stuck with that b/c I wanted her transition to be as smooth as possible. Maybe she doesn't eat as much of her food b/c I'm giving her way too many treats? hehe

| I agree all dogs are different, I free feed peanut ( innova evo red meant small bites) and I only put out 1/4 of a cup, he doesnt even eat all of it, it takes him about 2 days to finish all of it...and peanut is healthy he is 4lbs! He is tiny though I bet his little tummy is the size of a plum. If you free feed just measure an amount at a time and see how much your furbaby eats and then go from there..thats how I did it

| I also free feed Suzi . SHe is 11 months and is A 7lber. It takes her 3 days to empty her bowl. She's a good eater too I have recently noticed that she is eating her meals when we do! She also is a midnight eater , right before bed, then she is eating breakfast at 6am! I know yorkies have little tummies and can't eat too much at once, then they can't go too long before hungry again. That is why it is so much easier to leave food down all the time

| I free feed my boys. Thankfully they both eat the same food! Our decision is based on the fact that Smokey can easily lose weight and he's a pretty slender puppy head and the fact that Chip takes FOREVER to eat. Just for example, I'll be in the shower and he will put a bite in his mouth, walk all the way across the bathroom as he's chewing the one piece of kibble and watch me until he's done chewing then go back for more... back and forth, back and forth. I do not have time to wait for him to finish in the morning so I just leave food out. I would just see what works best for you and your baby. If she's been doing fine for the past few years, then I really wouldn't worry about her.

| Since I have three pets, one of whom is on a restricted diet due to allergies, I do timed feedings. All three animals are fed twice a day in separate rooms. Penny gets 1/3 cup in the morning and 1/4 cup in the evening. She has a voracious appetite-- if I tried free feeding, I bet she'd end up really overweight.

| I free feed Charlie as well. I refill his bowl when it gets low, about every 2-3 days. Every afternoon he gets a small bowl of canned food which he finishes right away!
