I free feed my boys. Thankfully they both eat the same food!
Our decision is based on the fact that Smokey can easily lose weight and he's a pretty slender puppy head and the fact that Chip takes FOREVER to eat. Just for example, I'll be in the shower and he will put a bite in his mouth, walk all the way across the bathroom as he's chewing the one piece of kibble and watch me until he's done chewing then go back for more... back and forth, back and forth. I do not have time to wait for him to finish in the morning so I just leave food out.
I would just see what works best for you and your baby. If she's been doing fine for the past few years, then I really wouldn't worry about her.
