| Welcome to YT! I have 4 yorkies. 3 of them has did that too. The only thing that has ever worked for me is those tablets you can buy called dis-taste. They make their poop taste bad so they stop eating it,i kinda thought it would taste bad anyway Sometimes they will outgrow it and sometimes it just gets to be a habit. I think mine just got in the habit of doing it. When i gave them the tablets, they stopped. After i ran out of tablets, it wasnt long they started doing it again...i just got some more of those tablets today. Good Luck!

| working for me Many years ago I heard about feeding treats of pineapple to stop corporaphagia but forgot all about it. I tried everything on my last BIRO/Biewer puppy that I am keeping as a pet. I have been giving all of my critters small chunks of pineapple twice a day for a week. Hana has not touched poo for the past 6 days. It is worth a try and is simple, non-chemical and always on hand to use as a reminder if needed.. Some experts say that adding probiotics to their diet will aid in digesting all the nutrients and the stool will not be inviting to the eater, BUT most people I know say that didn't help. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I had a Lhasa Poo who did that as a puppy. The vet told me to get For-Bid at the pet store or sprinkle Adolph's Meat Tenderizer on it. I used the Adolph's as I already had some at home and she didn't like that at all. She coughed, etc but didn't do it anymore.

| fresh pineapple!!!!!! mix it with their food, or just give it to her as is...just a little bit.... it takes nasty when they deficate, so it will deter them from the need/want to eat the poop! good luck, try it, it really does work!!!!

fresh or canned should be fine, but you need to just mix it with the dry food, dont give it alone. If your changing dog food, just remember to do it over a 3 day grace period--- Day 1- add about 1-3 pieces of the new kibble to the old kibble Day 2- put a little bit mroe of the new kibble in with the old Day 3- Use more of the new kibble and some pieces of old kibble just ween it off, my Fiona has an iron stomach, and some dogs dont adjust as well! Good Luck!!!!

| My puppy did the same thing, and for her the only thing that stopped her was having her poo outside. I think she believes it's wrong to go inside and then tries to hide the evidence. But ever since taking her out in the grass to go, she doesn't have an interest in it. This may not be very convenient for you, but I'm doing this until she gets a bit older, than I'm going to try litter box training. |

| Update on my post about pineapple for poop-eating. IT WORKED!!!!!!!!! I fed small treats of canned chunks twice a day for 7-10 days (can't remember exactly) but my Biro/parti baby has stopped. I even have a new puppy who never had the treats and Hana leaves that poop alone too. I hate to brag cause she will probably start again as soon as I send this, but it worked. I will give pineapple treats occasionally to make sure she remembers. I did not put the pineapple in their food but made sure each one got 1/4th of one chunk. I have used Accent by the tons and all it did was make them thirstier. Forbid didn't work. Those tablets didn't either. So, just keep trying til you find something that works for you.. |

| I just started using canned pineapple after using Deter for months. The Deter is MSG and most likely not good for the dogs. It also made her thirstier and I suspect made her have more accidents. Lola won't eat the pineapple chunks alone but can't avoid it if I mix with her food and pour a little juice in. I might just buy small can of juice next and see if that works. It will probably be less messy too. So my two cents...go with the pineapple first because it is a natural harmless remedy! |
