| I don’t know what to do about feeding her and using pads!!!! All, I am having such a hard time w/feeding my little girl! She’s 3 months now, I was feeding her 3 times a day, but things w/potty training etc…just wasn’t working out, there were times she wouldn’t even eat didn’t have an appetite and going potty she wouldn’t go after each meal….so I changed it to twice a day at certain times and this worked perfect she went pottyng after every meal (both meals) I train her too so she gets plenty of treats I was worried since I’ve read about feeding them three times a day, went back to that and same pottying issues – so now I’m considering going back to 2 a day???? Would anyone here please help me is it really bad to feed them 2 a day???????? I really love her so much and don’t’ want to hurt her at all :-/ also I need better wee wee pads she ends up playing with it taking it off the floor etc..she is training to go outside she knows what to do but not on the pad I keep her in a huge exercise pen while I’m at work…. please help me!!!!! |

| It can be tough to teach them, but once they get, they get. First, how old is your little girl? She may only need to eat 2x. And she may not necessary need to potty each time she eats. Second, she may be confused with going outside and then inside. She is probably getting mixed signals. I would probably concentrate on 1 until she gets the hang of it. And I would do the pad first. JMO. Third, how many treats are you giving her and are they big treats? In Hot Rod's first training class, he got full after a couple of treats...remember,their stomachs are only so big and depending on the treat, they may fill up fast. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Trust me!

| I only feed Daizy twice a day and she's had no problem with gaining weight!! So that won't harm her a bit....especially if your trying to potty train her. One way you can help her understand what the pads are for is somehow get some urine on it....puppies tend to go where they smell previous potties...not sure if she has any accidents in the house...but you could use the pad and wipe up a little on it..eventually she'll get used to the pads...........I would suggest that as she gets used to pad training that you slowly move the pad closer and closer to the door so eventually she's going to the door to potty...then you can take her outside when you see her near the door....Also always take her out the same door....that way she'll eventually go to that door to potty. I read on a thread that someone put a bell above their door...with a long string attatched and each time she took her furball outside she would ring the bell...within 5 days...she said she heard the bell ringing..it was her yorkie......asking to go outside!!! Isn't that so cute!! I'm going to try that myself!! Good luck....and Welcome to YT!!!!

| As Wabbit suggested, you may need to wipe up some urine on the pad to get your little one to get the idea. There is also a spray that they sell to mark where you want your dog to go. I don't know the name but I know that Petsmart has it. When we were pad training, we kept a sharp eye out and as soon as we saw signs we would put the puppy on the pad and use use our phrase which is "do your stuff" to let them know that was where they needed to do their business. You must be very diligent to putting them on the pad. And we treat each time they use the pad. Now Maggie is at the point that she is not looking at use when she is using her pad...we have to call her to give her a treat. I even still treat Hot Rod (he is 1 yr old) since I want to make sure they keep using the pad (we boat in the summer and use pads then). Just be patient. One day, it will all come together and at 16 weeks, I bet it just around the corner. Mine seem to get it just about that age.
