| VENTING!! how could someone be so.... I'm really sorry guys, this probably isn't theright place for this, for those of you who are following my threads, same was diagnosed with LP today. Times like now are when I thnk how could I have married such an ***hole. After telling him about sammy's condition he said we should give Sammy away!!! I am such a wreck now after he said that!!!What a complete idiot since I can't write what I really want. He said that if he's never going to get cured then why should we bother wasting money on his medicine ($73 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR SUPPLY!!!) when we could just get another dog without any problems. and i tried to explain this is something he was born with and it can be fixed with surgery and that dummy said, well, I don't want to see him walking aroiund here after surgery cause I'll fell too bad for him (He felt bad for him after the neuter surgery)so then you'd rather give him away???!!!So then he says ok, we'll just get another dog and keep both of them and when sammy's condition gets worse at least then us and the girls will have the other one and THEN we can give sammy away. SO of course the big speech about "So when something's broken you just get rid of it- I should get rid of you and I went off on him. Im'm so sorry I just had to vent cause my eyes are going to be so swollen in the morning from crying for Sammy and for myself being this stupid to actually live with someone like this. He claims it'll just be worse to give him away when he's older and we've had him a long time might as well do it now, but who said I'm giving him away???!!!! Sorry |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Well as long as you work you can deal with your baby's health issues yourself. There is a credit card called "Care Credit" It's essentially a payment plan. If you need to spend under $300 the you pay back at 11% interest. If above that you make monthly payments for up to 4 years interest free. I have it and rather that than insurance. Sorry hubby doesn't understand your commitment to your baby. Your right on the money about teaching the kids that just because it's broke you don't get rid of it. Good luck....sorry he is being such a heel.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I'm sorry you are dealing with this and your husband's attitude. Sometimes when people can't deal with sickness they want to get rid of the problem. I'm sure when he has time to think about it he will see that Sammy belongs with you guys. My Cali has grade 4 Lp and has showm no symptoms yet and my vet said she may never need surgery. Besides that she has Mvd and severe allergies. Her medicine is 60.00 a month but youjust have to do what you have to to make sure they are comfortable. Hang in there!

| I'm sorry to hear about Sammy's condition. Poor baby. That's not very much money @ all for his medicine for a whole year. That's NOT a reason to give him away. He needs his family now more than ever. ( This is directed at your hubby's attitude - certainly not yours.) Please keep us informed about Sammy. Here's a big hug coming from me and my boys to you & Sammy. I hope things get better for you & Sammy. Men - who will EVER be able to figure them out!

| thanks to all who responded. he's actually calmer now. he asked how much surgery was if we needed it. and apologized, and said he's do anything for him, blah, blah, blah, it doesn't excuse the earlier episode but makes it a little bettter |

LOL...as do some women! I'm glad he has had a change of heart. My suggestion was going to be to have him come on here and read the responses. Best wishes with Sammy, keep taking up for him - he needs you!

| Aww, that is so sad! Maybe you should give HIM away and see how he likes it! Some people just don't get it--they view pets as 'possessions' and don't understand emotional attachment people have with their dogs. I am sorry that you happen to be married to one of those people who truly doesn't 'get it.' I am glad that YOU are there for Sammie and that you have his best interests at heart. |

| Tell your husband that Loki's medicine is $130 a month for the rest of his life and there is no surgery or cure. Is he going to just keep trading dogs until he gets a healthy one? It will always be something. It was Sammy's knees but otherwise she is healthy. Loki has diabetes insipidus, but his knees are fine. Someone else might have a perfectly healthy dog that eats a sock and needs surgery! It's sad when someone has to give up a dog because they can't afford it or don't have time for it, but he's being pretty selfish to think that you should give him away and get ANOTHER one just because he's not perfect. Sam's LP surgery was VERY successful and now she *is* perfect.

| Ahhh...Don't cry Lots of us have Yorkies with LP - including myself. My Roxy girl had Grade 2+ and Grade 3 in her rear legs. I went to see a specialist in Westbury NY, Dr. Hinton from the Center for Specialized Vet Care We had surgery done on both legs at the same time and the cost was approx. $3000 - Now I know that sounds like a lot of money (well, it is) BUT she was worth every penny. Once her legs were repaired she was a BRAND new girl ~ The change was unbelievable. Now, some that have LP may never need surgery. The reason why we did for Roxy, was because she started to limp and carry her leg, very often, so we knew it was time. Please don't give him away Have you actually seen an Cert. Ortho Specialized yet? Honestly, LP surgery should ONLY be done by a Cert. Ortho Surgeon, these little guys have such little legs, bones, and tendons, and once inside the knee you really want/need someone with the experience and even the crafty and artistic touch to do any unforseen *stuff*. Keep us posted |
