| I'll wash him and see where that goes. I'll wash him later today and check back with you all tomorrow about where to go with the results of that. He has a lot of hair and washing him is a big job, so it's very helpful to have this advice on what to use. Fortunately he just stands there like a little professional. Many thanks, Belinda |

| just a thought. I wonder if the brown coat you are seeing after you wash him, might be from a flat iron. Scorched hair. i don't even know if it is possible on a dog but just guessing I'd say it is if the hair was dry or the iron to hot if she even used a flat iron. |

| Looks more of an ash blonde color after bath, was previously light to med. brown. Hair on that half of him is a strange texture too. Texture is quite nice after conditioner and oil, almost frizzy before that. Can someone recommend a course of treatment and product brands to use to keep him clean and protected? This fellow has a good 12-14" of coat that would take years to regrow, so I desperately want to salvage what's there. And the color...can someone PM me contact info for someone who might be expert in the field. I'm not looking to cheat in competition, just put him back the way he is naturally. Thanks again everyone. | Hey Belinda, Did you ever get help for this. After more shampooing and conditioning is the hair improving at all? If the hair now has an ash tone she applied something that has a green or blue green tint. I hope it gets better for you.

| Hello Ladyhawk, I haven't washed him again yet---last time out of wraps he was an ashy blond type color. Because of my crazy schedule I haven't had a look in the bright light of day and hope to get to that tomorrow. He's not a bad color from neck to waist--med. blue and quite nice, but waist to rump and tail, scary. I'll get back on here for help after washing him again. Does their hair take dye similar to the way humans do? The reason I ask is that some beauticians specialize in hair color and I wonder if a clever one could put him back to normal... |

| I used to show my yorkies, and I witnessed a lady who burned her dogs skin with hair dye...and the shade was not right so she dyed it and burned it again! Just to get a show point...it made me sick! Dyeing a dog is against the rules in AKC. That handler should be reported. If a judge suspects the dog has been dyed, you as the owner can be suspended from showing. The handler is not in trouble, so to protect your own AKC rights, you need to report the handler and find an ethical one. If you report the problem, you are not going to get into trouble, but the handler will be suspended. They have strict rules. Sue & Cricket ![]() Quote:

| On the note of hair dye, my hair takes too well to dye so when i had red highlights put into my gorgeous light blonde hair i was a little worried and quite rightly because when i was having the red dye washed out the water obversly came in contact with the rest of my hair and turned the whole lot dark red even with it being watered down. Anyway i phoned the manufacturer and the lovely lady on the other end of the phone told me to buy head and shoulders anti dandruff shampoo (the zinc in it strips dye) what you have to do is put it onto dry hair put a plastic bag on your head (the heat reacts with the dye) and leave for 20 mins then wash and blow dry you can do this a max of 3 times in one day but no more than that but buy the 3rd wash all of the dark red dye was gone wahoo...! But even just using it as a normal shampoo will have the same affect but will just take longer. Unfortunatly with the fact that i am fair haired and fair skined (and my skin is quite sensitive) i got an allergic reaction to head and shoulders and it burnt my head and as it was the first time i had used it i didnt see that one coming so although i ended up with a sore head for a couple of weeks i had my blonde back!!!! WOULDNT RECCOMEND THIS PROCESS ON THE DOG, AS THEIR SKIN IS PROB TO SENSITIVE TO COPE WITH IT |
