| I would stay away. When I read "the smaller the yorkie, the higher the price", it didn't sound good. Have you tried rescue groups? Good luck in your search for your pup! |

| I understand the desire to have a puppy and a tiny one... Had been looking for the right breeder for YEARS. The tiny pups are often the most desired ones by people looking to be tiny dog owners and the breeders hike up the price cus they know they can...as the purchasers will pay more, sadly. If price isn't an issue... the thing you have be sure about is that it's a reputable breeder if not then you open a whole can of problems. If that pup has health issues you'll have to be prepared to pay for helping him/her overcome and pay for wellness... Bad breeders (after monies have exchanged hands) will be out of your life and gone with the wind. Take the time to find a breeder that comes with "word of mouth"...other people recommending the health and lineage of their pups. It's to your best interest. A sick dog is VERY MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE than it's original fee. Look at the AKC, CKC, etc and speak with the people who frequent dog shows as they can be your word of mouth in finding a tiny yorkie...they're all a network of yorkie recommendations. They're a tight knit community and they all know who's got what and who's a questionable establishment. You have to do your homework. If you rush it because you've fallen for an adorable face on the internet you can be ruining your experience. Just fall in love with the breed, when you see a cute pic and do your homework so you CAN find a breeder that will give you the pup of your dreams. It happened to me...(years back when I was looking for a pomeranian pup). I waited 2 years for a 3 pound pup and finally one was born...and the breeder called me straight away. She was SO tiny! At her adult years she was 3 pounds wet and the light of my life...WELL worth the wait. Do your homework... Good luck Let us know what happens... |

| thank you for the help. she has informed me that the puppy is 8 weeks old and is 1 pound 3oz. he is projected to be about 3 1/5 pounds as an adult. Does this sound accurate? |

| I think I would be incredibly cautious. 3.5 lbs is very small and fragile. One mis step and you have a broken bone or worse. A 3.5lb yorkie might not even be able to jump up onto the couch or make it up the stairs. Sometimes the reason they are so small, is because they have a health problem. Just my thoughts... I would be WAY more concerned about temperament and health than size..... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I might be having yorkies soon, but I am in NJ and the parents are both 7 pounds.. so the babies I gather will be in that weight range too.. which is the NORMAL yorkie size.. this is my very first yorkie litter and i am a bit nervous...LOL hugs, |

| I'm sure there is a yorkie growth chart on the AKC site... (When I was about to get my tiny pomeranian years back they had one, also breeders often have a growth chart on their own sites). You can google it, or ask an expert here on this site. There are so many good ones... I had a 3 pound pomeranian and she was quite fragile. She came across as tough but I didn't want to hurt her back (vets warned me about spine issues...) so she was not allowed to jump on on chairs or couches AND never was she allowed to do stairs. Now I have a 2 and a half pound yorkie. He's a year old and since it's a different breed I have learned on this great site that his joints are at risk so he won't be allowed to do the same things as my pom was not allowed to do. My sister has a 6 pound yorkie and she is allowed to go up and down stairs and couches, etc...so I had to find out if my little one could. It's not worth the risk...right? I mean, your dog will have a lot of activity anyhow...they're so active! Keep us updated |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Carmen is a wonderful breeder. But if you want to look for others please check out the YTCA website. There are a lot of reputable breeders there. They have some rules that they need to follow like they have to be 12 weeks or older. Please talk to your to your breeder and ask as many questions as you can about health, testing, the parents, even ask for references. You just don't buy the puppy, you buy the breeder.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I don't know yet, this was the yorkie pair that the other breeder gave me after hurricane Sandy because she lost her home. I just got them a couple of weeks ago, she has a vet appt. in a few days to have her complete check up, I don't take anybody's word on anything lesson learned the hard way, i have my own vet do a complete detail check up.. that is the only way I can sell the dogs knowing I am not selling sick puppies, if anything comes back iffy will have her spay right away and I will place them in a good home. hugs, |
