The woman may be nice, but she knows nothing about breeding yorkies. First she is breeding dogs that are under four pounds, most good breeders won't breed a dog under 5 pounds, the weight of the breeding pair is only one factor, it's more important to know the grandparents weight and brother and sisters weight. A four pound mama can produce a 10 pound dog, this are breeding these dogs to mislead the public into spending more than they should. While every pet is beautiful, not all pets have the qualities that should be bred. Many of her breeding dogs are poor examples of the breed and it looks like the only reason she chose them is because they are small. Go to a reputable breeder who chooses her breeding dogs carefully and has tested them for genetic illnesses. You'll get so attached to your new baby and you'll be so happy if it doesn't have any one of the common illnesses that backyard breeder's dogs have. I agree with those who tell you to check out the YTCA. It’s the mother club for the Yorkie and they set the standard, many of the members have devoted their lives to breeding and are breeding to improve the breed, not just for extra pocket change. Also, a good breeder strives to produce a dog under 7 pounds the average being 4-5 pounds. Since they don't breed dogs 5 pounds and under and sell them as pets only, you are more likely to get a small dog from a reputable breeder.
