I know that really sucks about being able to get the Blood Transfusion, but if they give it to him and his platelets havn'e gone below 15, the Insurance company will not pay for it. I know it sucks. Prayers still continue. He really does look in the picture. |
Happy Belated Birthday Ken. Sending prayers and best wishes. I hope this years brings health and happiness for you. |
Sending big hugs for the birthday. Sorry I am late. Keeping you in our prayers. |
Thanks everyone. Ken's platelets were unchanged from yesterday so they didn't give him platelets but his hemoglobin was borderline for a transfusion so we have to go back Monday to see if it has gotten any worse. If it has he will get the transfusion monday. Hopefully his levels will be good enough for the chemo treatment on Thursday. We also meet with the oncologist that day to see if the 22nd is Ken's last chemo for awhile. I am praying it is so he can get a chance to build himself up a little. TxVicki I had a feeling it was an insurance protocol for the 15. |
Prayers and Hugs for you and Ken, Happy Belated Birthday Ken. |

Maybe you could call the insurance about delaying the transfusion? Do you have a case manager? I know you are tired but try to make a few calls and see if they could help you. It is a shame he has to have such a bad weekend because they did not give him the transfusion We are doing well... I am getting really nervous about the bmt but I really have faith it will be ok. We are both lucky...we have many praying for us. Take care..and of course you and Ken and your family are in my prayers. |

We don't have a case manager but we met with his oncologist today. The oncologist said next Thursday will be Ken's last chemo. He also reduced the dosage of todays chemo to hopefully prevent the blood counts from going so low. He wants us to wait 3-4 weeks and schedule a CT scan and an appointment with him the day following the CT scan so we don't have to wait and worry about the results. If the cancer has remained stable or better he said we will discuss the pros and cons of maintenance chemo or taking a break and recheck in a few months. He said either way he is done with the chemo, that he has gotten all he will get out of it. I think he means the 2 drugs he was on not all chemo. So hopefully, he will be able to get the last treatment and take a long break. Your prayers and support have gotten us this far and if we could just ask for continued prayers for a good Ct scan next month. Thank you all so much. You will never know how much it has meant to us during this scary uncertain time. |
Patti, You know you can count on continued prayers being offered up for Ken AND you. I think the rest of the YT family might agree. Please take care and keep us posted. |
of course you and ken are in my prayers.. I am so glad it seams to be looking better for ken. Wow. The case manager would be through your insurance.. I really don't know if it helps that much. The first insurance we had when Alan was first diagnosed .. that case manager was horrible. My employment changed insurance and the case manager we have now is better. I think they can give information on why some items are approved and such. But I will say.. the oncologist we have is amazing and I have total faith in her!!! It sounds like you have a great one also. Please keep us posted .. and remember we are all here for you |
Patti, I am not on here often but do try to check in for updates on Ken. Please know you are always in my thoughts and prayers. It has been a very hard and scary battle for both of you, and don't ever give up hope that the miracle cure is possible for him Hugs to you both. |
Just checking in on your and Ken. I hope you get to enjoy a long chemo free break. Sending healing prayers and positive thought to you both. I hope Ken is feeling stronger and able to enjoy the holiday festivities. Best wishes to you. |
Patti, Ken and you remain in my daily prayers. I pray Ken will grow stronger and feel better and that the next CT will bring good news. |
Continued prayers for both Ken and you and wishing you both a very peaceful Blessed Christmas. |
Just checking in to see how Ken is doing? Prayers still continue. |
Still praying here as well and checking in on you and Ken..... |
Sending prayers for a Happy Holiday! |
Thanks. Ken had his last chemo treatment Thursday!! His blood count was a little low but they decided he would be ok for treatment. Ken has a CT scan on January 11th. We get the results the next day when we meet with his oncologist. We are praying that the cancer has remained stable and Ken can have a break in treatment for awhile. Your prayers and thoughts have helped us so much. I will update when we get the CT results. YT prayers are the best. |
Keeping the prayers going! Merry Christmas! :D |
