Please say a prayer or positive thoughts for my DH My husband is a smoker and has had a bad cough for 2 months. He wouldn't go to the doctor sooner. Today he asked me to call his doctor to get a chest xray. So I know he is worried. Of course I call and his doctor is on vacation until the middle of next week. So I got an appointment with the fill in doctor on Wednesday. Please say a prayer that it isn't something serious and for him to have the strength to finally quit smoking. He was on an antibiotic that I had here for 10 days with no improvement. Thanks so much. |
Saying prayers for you and your husband. Maybe he just needs a stronger or different antibiotic. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong. |
Sending your best wishes and good vibes! Keep us posted. Stopping smoking is hard:eek: |
Oh, of course I will be praying. It could just be inflammation from smoking and nothing more but hopefully, the scare will stay and spur him into quitting! If men would just talk out their frustrations or fears to us rather than smoke, they would be so much healthier in every way! I pray he has a completely excellent x-ray and a doctor that will gently guide him into quitting. I smoked(not a lot toward the end) for 10 years and stopped 11-19-88. Cold turkey. Bought a treadmill and every time I wanted to smoke, I got on that thing and walked until I no longer card ANYTHING about a cigarette and only want to breathe! Breathing well became my big quest in life as I continued to walk, walk, walk and my body demanded more efficient delivery of oxygen. In 3 weeks time, my desire for anything to smoke was totally gone and except for 1/2 cigarette the next March when our clinic CPA quit and I had to take over her job, haven't had one since. And I prayed and prayed that God would completely deliver me from the habit and that is when I got the idea for the treadmill. That did it!!! He answered my prayer and I got skinny. God bless you and your DH. I pray his lungs are fine. |
Praying for your family! |
Your husband will be in my prayers. I pray that God will keep him in His hands. This just might be the wake up call your dh needs. My husband also smokes. He has quit several times and has been successful each time for a few years, until something stressful happens. So, I know the worry you are feeling. Let us know how it goes. |
i will keep you both in my prayers. I am an ex smoker (20years and cold turkey) and i know how hard it is. |
I will certainly say a prayer for you both. Please stay strong & hopefully this is just something to help motivate him to quit. It's very hard, I quit 10 years ago so I completely know how hard it can be. |
We did not get good news today. The doctor did an EKG and there was something abnormal on his right side of hie heart I think he said. He has an enlarged lymph node in his neck (2 cm) and he heard rails in his right lung. He was hoping it was COPD but due to my DH being a smoker and working on the tollway for 25 years wanted an Xray done. We went down to the hospital and had an xray. They said it would take 24 -48 hours for the doctor to get the report. Well by the time we got home 2 hours later, the doctor called twice. They found an inch long mass on his right lung which the radiologist felt was malignant. We have to go for a CT scan Monday to see how much lymph node involvement there is and then from their to a pulmonary guy to get a bronchoscopy to take a tissue sample and then an oncologist. I am so so scared. We have been together for 41 years and he is my one true love. Please keep us in your prayers. I truly believe in the power of prayer. |
Oh my so sorry. Sending prayers and hugs |
I am so sorry to hear this news. We will be praying. I do believe in the power of prayer. |

Patti I'm very sorry to hear this. Your family is in my prayers. |
You and your husband are in my prayers. I also believe in prayer and miracles. May God give you the strength to get through this. My vet had throat cancer last year and continued to work everyday while having radiation treatments. God has blessed him with a diagnosis that he is now cancer free. Praise God for this miracle. |
Patti sending prayers your way. YT prayers are an amazing thing! We were so glad to have so many pray for us when my DH was down. I know they will be good for you too. :hands: |
Patti, I will certainly keep your husband and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Yes, the strength of prayer can create miracles. Hugs to you. |
Sending hugs and prayers your way. Accept all of this YT strength that is coming your way. |
I am first reading about this now, and I am so sorry that you got such bad news. You must be so scared, but I strongly believe in the power of love and prayers. I hope you get some positive news on Monday. I am really hoping that your love will help you overcome this and that you have many, many more loving, happy, and healthy years together. You are a special person who deserves goodness and beautiful things to happen to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. |
My dear Patti...my heart broke when you told me this terrible news and I am praying for you, Ken and Jessie. You are such a dear friend and know that I am here whenever you need to talk. You and yours have and will be on my mind and in my prayers. I wish I lived closer so I could come over and hug you right now. Love you! Think positive! *HUG* |
So sorry to hear this. Will be praying for you and your husband. God is a miracle working God and nothing is impossible with Him. My cousin went for his first chemo treatment today. He is 48 and has stage 3C breast cancer. There is so much cancer today its unreal but like I said nothing is too hard for God. Just be positive and believe and let God do the rest. Bless you. |
Thanks all for the wonderful support. I know I have to pull it together to get Ken the best treatment possible but I can't stop crying. I think the waiting for a final diagnosis, possible treatments and prognosis is so difficult. I am going to see if he can get the CT scan somewhere else sooner than Monday and from there we go to a pulmonary guy. I hope I can get him an appointment soon for that to. I know your prayers and support will get us through this. |
I am so sorry and will pray for wisdom and strength for both of you. |
So very sorry you both are having to go through this. I'm sending prayers for your husbands recovery. |
I will keep you and Ken in my prayers. I also believe very strongly in the power of prayer. |
Thanks. Ken had the CT scan at 1:30 today. The doctor called at 6 and said the radiologist called him and it was not good. The main tumor is 7.5 cm x 9.9 of 4 inches by 5 inches and there is some nodules in the left lung, kidney and adrenal glands The tumor is wrapped around his main airway and the vena cava. He set up an appointment for tomorrow at 10 am with an oncologist. It just seems so widespread. Please keep praying I can't lose him. Thanks |
Patti, sorry to hear the news. I'm sending all my prayers that this can be cured, and lots of hugs to you. |
So sorry to hear praying for you! Tell him to stay strong for us!!! |
I'm so, so, sorry Patti. I don't know you personally, but wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you and your DH during this difficult time.. I know how scared you both must be, i hope there is treatment they can do that will help. My DH got a serving of a heart issue a few years ago, i've been in those shoes and cried many nights... just knowing you have people thinking about you both, makes you feel like your not alone....HUGS |
