Thanks. Ken's drinking about 64 oz of fluids a day. I put a call into the oncologist's nurse about 9:30 but haven't heard back. I really want them to answer me on the numbness issue and what we can do about it. I will ask about the gabapentin too. His platelets were at 70 and they need to be at 100 to do the chemo. I am going to be more assertive in asking why they aren't doing things. He took a vicodin today for the foot pain and he said it helped a little, but he doesn't like to take them too often. You guys are the best. |
Definitely push for answers and additional things to try to combat the challenges Ken is facing. My mom didn't like taking the prescription pain meds either. She didn't like being out of it. Praying that his platelets get back up there. |
The oncologist's office called and said that the 2 chemo drugs he is on does not cause neuropathy and to talk to the cardiologist as it sounded like his vascular problem. We talked to the cardiologist last week and mentioned it and he didn't seem concerned. I am trying to keep Ken more mentally occupied as I think stress may be playing in to it. He really doesn't have any good friends to talk to. I told him we need to get him out a little each day just for a car ride. I down loaded some games on the I Pad so he was bowling for awhile. His main interests were riding his harley's but he hasn't been able to do that since July, driving his mini for long rides and going to the shooting range. Things he can no longer do. So I am trying to think of new ways to keep him occupied. |
Patti... Still here... Still praying for you and Ken. Sending love and hugs |
The praying and holding Ken and you up before the Lord is still ongoing, Patti. I pray that before long things begin to turn your way. |

Remind him that most of a person's water intake comes from food. So he needs to eat to stay hydrated too! Try some Scrabble! That was one of Roy and I's favorite pastimes. Just thinking of you two today and wanted you to know I am still praying! |
Sending you guys prayers and do push for answers if you dont ask they sure are not gonna tell ya! |
Vicki, thank you so much for the link on the chemo and neuropathy. I am going to mention it to the chemo doc Thursday. Kristin,he has been enjoying the bowling and shooting games on the Ipad so it was good to see him engaged in something. I am hoping to get him out for a ride today. He had a pretty good evening and night. This morning the top of his right foot is swollen and painful. I am going to watch it and maybe call the cardio doctor if it doesn't get better. Every day is a new challenge but we will get through it with all the prayers and support. Thanks so much. |
It is good to know as much as you can about all the drugs! The Doctors are great but don't know everything Alan bloodsugar went reAlly high, I did some research and found a Link between blood sugar levels and one of the drugs he was taking. The doctor said ..no..it's not the drug he is in danger of diabetes. I showed her the research, she did her own and agreed. Some doctors would not have even listened to me..that is why it is so important to have. Doctor you can talk to and to have a support group that share info! So if Ken is having side effects trust your "gut feeling" Btw... Vit b may help |
Thanks. Ken has had a very good appetite today for the first time in many weeks. He has been playing games on the IPad he bought me lol for 8 hours. He has never used a computer before. I am so glad he has found something to keep his mind busy. Prayers are so powerful. |
Love and hugs to you and your husband Patti. |
Patti still thinking of you & Ken, hoping things get better soon |

Prayers and healing vibes your way! Hope Ken gets stronger every day!!! |
Thinking about you and still praying for you. |
Patti, thinking of you and Ken today. Hoping that Ken is feeling better and that you are taking care of yourself. Sending prayers and hugs to you both. |
Just stopping by to let you know prayers still going out and to check on how his appointment went today. |
Thanks. Ken had his chemo today but he is very anemic so he has to go back tomorrow for 2 pints of blood. They said it would take 6 hours! The doctor said he would feel a lot better once he has the transfusion. They lowered his dose of chemo because of the anemia. Now he goes next week for another chemo and then the following week for a CT scan. Then we meet with the doctor to see if the current chemo drugs are effective or if he needs different ones. When we got home tonight Ken had an episode of shortness of breath that really scared me I was ready to call 911 but he felt he would be ok. It passed after 15 minutes and now he has been sleeping ever since. Hopefully he will sleep well tonight and feel better tomorrow. Your continued prayers and support mean so much! |
Patti, we are still here for you every day, praying for Ken and sending hugs to you. Hang in there. |
Thanks. Ken had 2 pints of blood transfused today and looks and feels much better. Since we got home a couple of hours ago he has been up and active. I haven't seen him get up this much in months. His color went from white to normal during the transfusion. The oncology nurse came in and said your color looks so much better than yesterday. So thanks everyone for the continued prayers and support. He has an echo next week to see about the fluid on his heart. I am praying it has resolved and he won't need surgery to remove it. Hugs |
Very happy to hear he is doing so well today! Wish we could give him a pint of blood every day. I think your YT friends would happily donate. :) Sending prayers that the echo and future scans will return more happy news. I hope you and Ken have a great weekend. |
It is so wonderful to read this goooood report. So glad he's got some blood, energy and the iPad to keep him busy. Keeping that mind of his from worrying will help him. |

Prayers still continue. |
Thanks. Ken had another good day. He was up more and eating more. My brother and sister came over with my BIL and my brothers GF and her 6 year old son Kyle . It was trick or treat day in my town so we took Kyle trick or treating and the guys hung around with Ken. So he enjoyed that. I am hoping this round of chemo doesn't wipe out his red cells and he can continue to feel better and have his next chemo Thursday. Thanks for the prayers, every good day is a blessing. |
Patti, I'm so glad to hear Ken is feeling better and that he enjoyed his company. Continued prayers are coming your way.:) |
Still thinking of you both praying that all gets better for your family |
Thanks! I am praying we get good news after the echocardiogram tomorrow. We see the cardiologist right after. If the fluid is going away on it's own he doesn't have to have it drained inpatient. So if I could ask for your continued prayers we would appreciate it so much. |
