Patti, remember that while you hope for a cure, many many people are living "with" cancer, and some for a very long time. Just keep up the fight and buy some more time, and still always hold hope for the cure.

Thanks, I am trying to keep Ken positive. He hasn't felt good in so long that it is getting harder to keep his spirits up. I keep reading him success stories from a lung cancer forum I joined. There are a lot of people who are living many years
with stage lV. I was happy to hear the words stable this soon after starting chemo.

Patti, I have been away for so long that you probably have forgotten who I am, but I was so upset to hear this sad news, I will pray that Ken will remain stable and be with you for a long, long time yet. Cancer is so unpredictale - I have fought it three times and I am still here! May God bless you and give you both the strength to cope.

oh you are so welcome!!! When someone throws me a curve ball I try my best to put it in terms I can understand. Yes you and Ken, like my dh and myself, will LIVE with cancer. Somethings will become the new normal. I can remember two years ago crying for days and days. Alan was so sick and in pain. The doctors kept telling me there was hope... he would get better... and he DID!!!
That is what you and Ken have to hold on to.

I know in my heart Alan got better because so many people prayed for us. Yes, I say us.. because it was my pain too. So many people are praying for you and Ken. You have HOPE!! and stable is good... no it is GREAT!!!!

Thanks! Ken looks better to me today and he has been up most of the day. Hopefully his white cells are coming back and he can have his chemo treatment Wednesday. I agree prayers are so powerful and knowing you are not alone. YT is truly a unique place and I am so glad to be a part of it.

Very happy to hear Ken had a good day yesterday. Praying for him and you every day, and praying he can have the chemo on Wednesday and that he continues to well with it so that he can enjoy Thanksgiving. Praying for more reports of "stable" and even better.

Thanks. Ken was able to have his chemo Wednesday even though his red cells were low. He was able to come to my sister's for Thanksgiving and had a good time. He ate a whole turkey sandwich and a big bowl of ice cream. Aside from feeling tired and some pain in his legs he is doing pretty good. Hopefully he can have his 2nd treatment of the 3rd cycle Thursday then have a week off. He goes for his echo on Wednesday to see if the fluid around his heart is resolving. His oncologist wants him to see a vascular doctor for his artery blockages. He has had them for a long time and the CT scan showed they had gotten worse so they want Ken checked out. I know the prayers are working so thanks so much.

I'm so glad he had a nice time Thanksgiving and ate a good dinner, too. I will keep him in my prayers for even better times to come.

Patti , Im so very sorry you and ken has to go thou this , I will keep you and your family in our prayer.
My girlfriend fr Chicago when thou this 2 years ago , and Thanks God is she is going strong. She was up and down for a while , but never gave up , She had everything done at Northwestern Hosp. downtown Chicago.
I also belived in the power of prayers, I will pray for him and so many other going thou this.

Glad u were able to enjoy Thanksgiving with him. My sister made it out of the hospital on Wed and we had the best Thanksgiving ever...Everyday is a gift for us

I am so happy to hear your sister was home for Thanksgiving. It really makes the holiday even more special.

Manina, thanks for the encouraging post. We got a second opinion at Northwestern and they were great. We decided not to go so far for treatment so they recommended Ken's current oncologist.

Thanks everyone. Ken's is having trouble with his throat again but is eating pretty good in spite of it. I will update once we go to the cardiologist Wednesday. Hopefully the fluid has resolved on it's own.

Thanks I'm sitting in the cardiologist office waiting for Ken to finish his echocardiogram and then we see the cardiologist. I am praying the fluid around his heart has resolved. Oh no the nurse just came out and said they needed more time to do the test. Now I'm really nervous. I will update when I know more. This is such a nerve wracking process. Your prayers are so needed and appreciated.
