Thanks all. They gave Ken Nystatin mouth rinse for the thrush so hopefully he will get some relief soon. I see him going down hill more each day. I am praying he can get the thrush under control and start eating better. My BIL is getting some pain relief finally and they feel with the radiation and injections he should do well for quite awhile. Every time I feel like down I come here and your posts lift me up again. |
We love you patti Continually praying for you and Ken. Patti, please take care of yourself, you are a itty bitty frame already and stress can really do a deduction on a persons weight, don't want you to get down, please be sure to eat and take care of yourself. Praying they can get the thrush healed so Ken can start eating, and that the treatments will free his body from this ugly ugly disease. We are sending big hug to you Patti from the both of us. |
Sending healing prayers and positive thought for all of you. I am so sorry to hear of so many difficulties that you and your extended family are having to deal with. May Ken's discomfort ease, his appetite and strength increase. Please God strengthen and support Patti during this difficult time. Sending prayers for your BIL to strengthen him in his battle. Please help Pixie to dissolve her crystals and ease her anxiety. Sending Hugs to Patti GOD BLESS YOU! |
Patti, hope you and Ken were able to rest up on the weekend, and hope he's able to get some nutrition in. You guys are on my mind all the time, and remain in my prayers all the time. |
Thinking of you both and praying that things get better soon, big hugs to you |
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family. |
Your family is always in my thoughts and prayers... Just thinking... another great liquid product by prescription is Jevity (Abbott Laboratories )... I swear it saved my DD's life... where the Magic Cups are a great supplement for folks that are still eating, Jevity is a full meal replacement, and it contains prebiotics to help maintain and restore gut flora damaged by antibiotics or disease. My DD's weight had dropped to 60 pounds, she looked like a victim of the Holocaust, but on the Jevity (fed through a stomach tube) within 2-3 months she gained and now maintains close to 100 pounds, and is looking all fat and sassy... PTL. And a tip... do not drink soda pop with any liquid supplements like Ensure or Jevity in the same day... it will curdle in the stomach and cause vomiting. |
Hey Patti. I know it's easy to forget but please remember to take care of yourself. You also need to be healthy and strong to help Ken get better. We are always here to lend some support in any which way we can. Tell him that we are all rooting for him. Prayers and hugs to you and your family. Sorry about your bil too. It will all come back good ten fold. Hugs, Roni and Ahi~ |

Still sending prayers and love your guy's way! Please stay strong!!! Love Val! |
Patti, I just wanted to stop by your thread and say hello. You and Ken are in my daily thoughts and prayers. |
Thanks. Ken is not doing as well. Since they cut his dose of prednisone in half his breathing has gotten bad again. They gave him a new medicine for the Thrush but it is still just as bad. He lost another pound in 4 days. We met with a nutritionist yesterday and she explained the importance of eating more calories and protein. She seemed to make an impression on Ken and he has agreed to try more foods (he eats very limited types of food). He has 4 more days of radiation and then a week off and then he starts chemo. The nutritionist wants him to gain some weight before starting chemo. We appreciate the prayers! |
Sorry to hear Ken is having a time of it right now. I had thrush years ago and HATED it. It really does make you not want to eat. When I had it, my dr told me not to eat any bread or cake as they contain a good bit of yeast (and that's what thrush is). It did help to cut bread out of my diet. We will continue to pray for Ken (and you). |
I'm so sorry things are not going as well as hoped for. You and Ken are always in my prayers. |
It's a long rough road and Im so sorry he is not feeling as well as he could be. Please stay strong you guys are always in our thoughts and prayers!!! |
I am so sorry that things are as difficult as they are. I hope that things improve soon. You and your hubby are in my thoughts and prayers. |
Patti sending hugs & prayers your way |
Sending prayers and positive thoughts for you both. |
Continued Hugs and Prayers. God Bless you. |
Continuing to send prayers to you and your husband. |
Thanks. Ken see's the radiation doctor tomorrow. I am going to ask when they will do another CAT scan to see if the radiation has shrunk the tumors any. I would think they would do one before starting chemo to see where he's at. His thrush is still there but we have been keeping track of his calories each day and he is consuming about 2600 calories a day. This is more than he had been eating so we are hoping he will have gained weight when they weigh him tomorrow. I am so grateful at the amazing and continued support from everyone here. This is the hardest thing we have been through. Thanks |
Patti, I know this is hard, but just keep forging ahead with the treatments, and know that we all are praying for the cure. I am glad to hear Ken is able to get some calories and nutrition in, no matter how hard it is. It is so important. Wish I could give you a hug in person, but know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers as you muster thru the hardest time of your life. |

Thoughts & prayers for you both today |
Oh Patti.. I wish I could be there to hug you and help you!! I just hope knowing we are praying for you gives you what it takes to get through this. I am glad Ken is eatting, and I hope he is feeling better. I have asked friends and family to add you both to their prayers.. take care Patti we all love you |
Just wanted to let you know that I am still lifting both of you up in my prayers. I hope that the next scan shows some marked improvement in the size of the tumors. |
Thanks. We met with the oncology nurse today to go over the instructions for chemo next week. I told her I was concerned Ken was dehydrated so they checked him out and gave him two bags of IV fluids so hopefully he will feel a little better. They will do a cat scan after 4 sessions of chemo to see if the chemo drugs are working. Thanks so much for all the prayers and asking friends and family also. Hugs |
Continue to Hang In there!!! Think of you folks daily and send you blessings! |
