Aubrey was just starting to get potty trained at 6 months, and a lot of the potty training is based on the parents!!!!!

Since then we have done the crate training and isolated her in one room (tile floor, not carpet) and watched her continuously, etc., etc., taking her outside to prevent accidents, giving her treats, praise, etc., and she still makes not the slightest bit of association that outside = pee & poop. We also did 7 weeks with a behaviorist, spending bigbucks.

I haven't mentioned the part about her ripping wallpaper off the wall yet, but that is entirely another issue....

Sounds like she is Bored. Look at my post to you in the potty issues thread.

BTW Do you spend any pleay time with her? or is she in her Crate/ Room allone all the time?

6 weeks??? wow....WAAAAAY too young to be taken from mommy. that is where they learn SOOOOOOOOOOO much.

Thats probably why you're having so many behavior issues with the poor darling. She was ripped away from her mother before she should have even been weaned.

If you really regret the poor baby, give her to someone on here. I would take her in a heartbeat.

Since you have asked for advice, mine would be to give or sell this puppy to someone that is willing to love and train him. You obviously don’t at this time have the patience, which is critical for a well-socialized animal. Yorkies are more like babies, as they just want to be with you every minute, being cuddled, caressed, and sweet-talked. Potty training can take time, and above all patience. You can’t expect a puppy to know precisely how to behave. I would also ask your mom how long it took to toilet train you, and at what age. I think you will find that your puppy picks it up a lot faster.

I really don't see why you seem to be panicking. I am sorry your were deceived but your talking about a 5months old pup. How could it be
possibly house broken? It should be easy to do if you start right away.
Buddy was 4 1/2 months old when I bought him from a pet store.
I had him housebroken in 4weeks! He was never outdoors or walked on
grass. Had no problem at all. Actually it went faster than having a 12wk old because he was older and learned faster.
Hang in there you should not have a problem at all.

for once i am speechless...

and a little sad, really. Remember WE are the educated ones. We have the world at our fingertips when it comes to getting information from the internet. I feel for the poor puppies. Any puppy is a huge committment. They require so much love, guidance and attention at least for one year, regardless of the breed. Puppies are only as good at their trainers. Perhaps the puppies ARE NOT the problem here.

I got my first yorkie at 6 weeks, never had any problems with her at all...she's never chewed, and was the best puppy, and even picked up using the pee pad within 2 weeks...which, is very unusual I know! Something has that little dog very upset!

I appreciate the feedback, and I am not an uncaring owner as you all might think, it's just that I'm relaying my experiences with this dog. Seeing how that this is an Issues forum, it should not shock anyone that Issues are actually posted here.

As for those that think we should find her another home: She can be a lot of fun (at times) and the kids love her to death. We are at the point of no return and would not part with her. For the most part, we have resigned ourselves to the fact that this dog (and the messes she produces) will be a part the house. Anyone else that is considering a Yorkie should be advised that they should (likely) expect a similar experience.
