Bella came to us at 3 months. She had been in a home where the parents worked 12 hr days and s he was locked in bathroom all day. We immediately starting crating Bella a few hrs during the day and at night. I would take Bella out to potty as soon as the crate door opened. I got up an hour early (0445) in the am to make sure she went potty and took her for a long walk, come rain or shine. Daily she had accidents and I scrubbed floors. Daily I picked up shredded paper and scattered toys. I fed her 3 times a day and watered her as needed. NOT to mention the baths from her playtime in the wet grass. During the first three months she slept hard and played hard. She wanted to play every 3 hrs. By 5-6 months she could sit, laydown and shake on command. She could also find her doggie door to go potty outside. There were still accidents up until about 10-11 months. Heck, I still pick up shredded paper. These were all sacrifices I was willing to make. Now at 1yr, she takes herself out to potty!!! This past year has been such a joy for me. ![]() ![]() She minds now because I was patient and gave her much love EVEN WHEN SHE HAD AN ACCIDENT! So for all those people out there researching the breed ~ Just like any puppy, they take time and committment. If you have that to give you will have the greatest time with your best friend!! I look forward to waking up or coming home from work and having my little jumping jack so excited to see me. I look forward to coming home to a thousand kisses. I look forward to spending time with my not so perfect Smella Bella. ![]() So if i can use this quote "Anyone else that is considering a Yorkie should be advised that they should (likely) expect a similar experience". I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. How's that for support? | |

| ![]() Yes, that was a great post..they are so wonderful of a dog, that you have to look past the little piddly things..they aren't going to be puppies forever, they outgrow the shredding, chewing, etc. etc..you love them unconditionally as you would your own child..they have such short lives, that the little things shouldn't bother you in the least bit..If you have no patience, then you should have NO dog! |

| ![]() Things will get better for you. Your fur baby is just scared right now and trying to figure out his position in your home. Spend extra time with him right now. Try thinking like your puppy. How would you feel is you had left the only home you had known to be taken to a home full of strangers. Wouldn't you feel nervous and out of place? Trying to think like your puppy is the best advice I can give you. Good luck. Pepper ![]() |

| ![]() "I found a vet who will neuter the yorkie scooby" In her other post... She said she lives over seas, she could quite easily drive out of the jurisdiction of the law.
