Just a quick update... I don't know if it was fate, or what, but last night I was looking around on the ASPCA website, for something unrelated to my baby search. I haven't looked for a Yorkie in a while, I just figured when it was time, it would happen in some way. I just happened to click on 'Adopt', and of course it pulled up PetFinder. After some serious thought, I put in my zip, and the breed. It pulls up some in AL and TN. I saw four babies, two girls, and two boys. I think they're brothers and sister. The shelter is about an hour from me, so I emailed them, figuring they wouldn't still be available, or that the adoption fee would be too high. She emailed me back. They're ALL still available! And, the adoption fee is only $100. But, that $100 is grocery money right now. I'm still not working, although I've been on a few interviews, and have been applying like mad. I called my DH and told him about it. I said 'I know we can't afford it right now, but...'. He didn't say anything, so maybe, maybe just maybe, he'll find a way. He knows how heartbroken I am over Rascal, and that I loved that baby. The only things that scare me are this. I've never trained a puppy before. I'm sure that it will be easier with me not having any carpet in my house, though. And, I'm also afraid that I'll feel really, really bad for breaking this baby up from his/her (I haven't decided yet!) brothers and sisters. So....wish me luck! And, I know this probably isn't PC, but I'm going to be praying for His Will in this, and hope that I have a brand new baby by next week!! Thanks again for all of your support and kindness. ~Melena

Thanks, guys. Well, those didn't work out. They were mixed, and although cute, I'm picky, and probably selfish when it comes to this. If I'm going to bring another baby into my home, I want to know that everything that can be ok, is ok with it, and I want it to be full. If it has some medical problems, we can deal with that, but I can't deal with another Rascal. I miss him. I think I found him online, I emailed the rescue group to ask if it was him, but I got no reply. I am able to look at pictures of him now without bawling. Anyway, another friend of mine works with animals, as a trainer. She has found two full bred Yorkies who were Puppy Mill breeders. She's looking into that for me. They're still being evaluated, but we're the first name on the list. Thanks again for all of your support! I hope everyone is having a great summer! Melena

I just noticed that someone said that most rescues do not take biters. I just want to say that there are some who will. Our group will and currently has the one I spoke about in a previous post. His name is Matty and one look at the way he lived and looked prior to coming to us gives a very clear picture of why he is fearful. He was living between the woods and an abandoned building, was horribly matted, and was dragging a chain behind him. He has come a long way and maybe no one will ever really want to adopt him, but I do not rule that out. There are people who understand and care for these babies. In the meantime he is just fine here in his foster home. My fosters live the same way my own babies do. I really just wanted to post this to let people know that there are people who will help these abused and/or neglected pups. Not everyone is up to the challenge and that is fine, but I would not want someone not to reach out for help for one thinking no one would help. Oh...he can be seen on our website: www.yorkiehavenrescue.com He is a sweet little boy!

LadyJane, Oh, how I wish I was closer to TX!! I looked at your babies, and tears came to my eyes. I want another so badly, and miss Rascal so much. I've been thinking about him a lot today, for some reason. All of your babies are beautiful, and look so sweet..even Matty. And some of those stories just killed me! I don't know how anyone could do that to a pet, I just don't. Especially when there are people like me yearning for one! Maybe I need to put a sign up in front of my house that says 'Will take all unwanted Yorkies', I would rather do that, than have them end up on the streets. Or any animal, for that matter. I just don't get the abuse/neglect. Thanks for allowing me a look at your babies. We don't have that many adoptable ones here. The only agency that even has any, is so strict with their rules, I'm surprised they don't have to keep them all. I applied with them when we first started looking. I never heard back. I finally emailed her, and she said, 'You shouldn't have even applied with us. You blatantly ignored our rules. We state NO LARGE DOGS. You have a large dog. We WILL NOT adopt to you, under ANY circumstances, period. Please do not contact us again, unless your large dog passes away. Then, maybe, you will be considered.' I'm not exaggerating, either. BUT...here's the kicker..we have a 35lb Whippet mix. Most docile dog you'll ever meet. Never bites, never growls, only barks when someone is at the door. Doesn't even take food off the coffee table, when it's left by mistake. You have to tell her it's hers. So, they made a mistake by not adopting to us, in my opinion. Thanks again for allowing me a look into your world! Good luck with all the adoptions, and the medical care. ~Melena

My DH just got off the phone with the shelter.... Rascal was adopted!!! He was placed with an elderly lady, and is doing GREAT!! He hasn't bitten, or even growled. Now, there's things about that that make me sad. WHY was he acting out so much with us? Why couldn't I fix him? I know that's selfish, but I do still miss him, and tears fell again today when I found out. I am SO VERY HAPPY that he is safe, and has a good home. Please don't think I'm not. I just wish that I knew what we did wrong. For weeks I have worried about him being alone somewhere in a cage. Now that I know that he's not, I feel much better. Thanks again for all of your support during this. I hope my furbaby comes into my life soon. Last night, my DH said that 'We don't even have the money to take a dog for his checkup.' Trust me, if a Yorkie comes into my life, I'll find a way.

I hope so! I'm so glad he's happy, and alive. All I kept thinking about these past few months..(wow..it's been that long?)....is that he was in a cage without stimulation, and someone to love him. I wanted him to be happy and 'fixed'..and my HP answered my prayers! Thanks again for all your prayers, kind words, and support. I love YT!!
