| Jumped of the Bed My little Abby jumped of the bed, when I wasn't looking. She screamed for a few seconds and then settled down really fast. I could bend her leg and touch her paw and it didn't seem to bother her at all that I was touching or bending it. She seems to be able to stand on it fine she just limps a little when she walks on it. Has this ever happened to anyone before and if so did she/he walk and rest it off or did you end up taking them to the vet. Thanks. |

| Yes, Yoda has hurt his leg jumping off onto a hardwood floor before. It took him maybe a day to completely "shake it off" and he was fine. If she seems to be in pain when you touch her, I'd suggest taking her to a vet right away. Or to be completely safe in general, take her to the vet right away, but usually they are okay after a few hours or up to a day or two... |

| My 12 wk old yorkie had his shoulder badly fractured while outside with my larger dog,he was probably stepped on while playing. This happens way more often than people think.Anyway he screamed so bad,he didn't stop screaming all the neighbours ran outside ,it was terrible. You couldn't touch it and there was no way he was putting weight on it.I rushed him off to the vet and they ended up putting a pin in his shoulder.A painful and expensive ($1500) lesson. I'm worried about him developing arthritis and he will probably have another surgery to have the pin removed.Their bones break so easily and it's usually from a simple jump off a couch or bed or playing with a much larger dog. It's like having a 6 month old baby around ! |

| That is scary. I have read of broken legs after a jump, so I know you are worry. I will call the vet to be safe. If She is not complaining and walking on the leg probably she will be fine. But I will watch her. |

| Georgie fell off the bed a couple of weeks ago and started limping I almost had a heart attack. My fiance picked him up and felt his little legs and he seemed to be fine. A few minutes later, after I got myself together I looked out the back door and he was running around like a mad man My fiance' said look at him he has you in the palm of his paw.......he is sooooo right I would take your baby to the vet tomorrow if she is still limping just to make sure. Hope she feels better soon

| No Jumping Problems Here... I removed the frame off my bed for Bugaboo. I know they can get hurt bad from jumping. He also has a cushion for him to jump off the couch.

| That must have been awful. I hate that sound. I got a stool at the foot of my bed for my older yorkie. I haven't let my babies sleep with me yet as they are not housebroken. I have seen the steps you can buy for them but they are so expensive. I am sure I can make one. That seems the way to go. They are so independent sometimes.

| Thanks for all the great info. I called the vet yesterday and she said that because she was still acting really hyper and active that she may have just sprained it and to give it a few days and if she is still limping to bring her in. It seems as though it is better slowly, everyday she seems like she is walking on it a little more. Thank god. She is just so little everytime I turn around I think something bad is going to happen to her. I am such a nervous mother. You guys are a great support group! :-) |

| I agree, that you should have a vet check it out. You just never know with these little ones. They can break bones so easily. I don't want to scare you. But this is the truth. You may not think that there is anything wrong, but an x-ray may say otherwise. I will say a little prayer that there is nothing wrong. But its always better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck

| Hobbs jumped off the couch the second day we had him. He never whined or wimpered, he just wouldn't touch him leg to the floor. He would let us touch it, move it, anything...he just wouldn't walk on it. We decided to take him to the emergency room. The vet did an x-ray and found a hairline crack in his leg. The vet said that the reason he didn't cry and that it didn't seem to hurt when we touched or moved it was that dogs don't usually don't show weakness because in a pack, the weakest are left behind, or killed. I thought that was interesting! So, even if she isn't acting like it is hurt, if she isn't walking on it, I would DEFINATELY take her to the vet. You don't want it to get worse and end up having to have surgery or something!! Hobbs just had to wear a splint on it for 3 weeks. Now he is perfectly fine! Would never know he ever hurt it! |

| I agree with taking your pup to the vet. My little Ralph was favoring one leg after a trip to the groomer. He only limped slightly and did not flinch when we touched or bent the leg. Since it was the weekend, I figured he was okay. By Tuesday when I came home from work I knew something wrong. He had been running around and playing ever since the inury, but when we held him he would shake. He was only eating a little. The vet said dogs often hide injuries. She said the shaking was because he was in such pain! I felt terrible! Poor Raph. She gave me some pain meds for him and he recovered comfortably. I won't forget that lesson! Good luck. |

| Your vet said to watch her for a few days - and if she's still limping - bring her in. That sounds like good advise to me. I have had my dogs (not just my Yorkie) hurt their legs so many times out running around and playing - only to be 100% back to normal in two or three days - that I always wait and watch for a day or two. BUT - this has always been only when they were limping...not whinning, or in a lot of pain, etc. Good Luck! Carol Jean |

| Coco always leaps off of my bed and she is fine...should I be worried??? She is only 4 1/2 months, I never thought anything about it because she leaps off and runs around like it is nothing. I don't know if she would even use the stairs if I put them there for her. SHOULD I BE WORRIED??
