| help I have not been on this forum in 6 years, mayb3. It got very stressful and vicious for a while. PLEASE don't jump me for my inability to run to the vet immediately. I had a dog shot last month that required surgery, a goat that required surgery the month before, and I will take my dog to the vet but I just want to see if there is anything that can be treated at home or if this is something y'all think that cannot be treated w/o extreme costs before I do. Chloe is 10. At her last grooming session they cut her on the foot and blood went everywhere. They forgot to tell me til I called when I got home and she was limping. I think I start there..... but may not be related... that was about 3 weeks ago. Since then.... she seem to gradually over a week and 1/2 get better. Then suddenly 3 days ago we noticed her sorta limping again.... and then severely limping. I thought it was still related to that. Then suddenly her back legs gait changed where she had trouble walking and keeping them straight? She still was eating, drinking, using the bathroom (although she was sitting in her waste some because she couldn't hold herself up on hind legs in a squat. One leg will pull back SLIGHTLY for a neuro test.... will not push at all.... the other leg does both but not strong. Last night she SCREAMED in the middle of the night. It scared me to death! This morning again, but less intense. She wasn't eating or drinking today so I gave her some nutrical and she loved it and started drinking. My mommy, my 14 yr old, skyped her from my mother and she perked her ears for first time today. Her body feels.... rigidish? She isn't going still like in death but it feels off... can't explain it. Her heart rate is 90 bpm. She is 4lbs. I noticed a tiny whimper when I had her on her back and was just feeling to see if her abdomen was distended....when I got down towards her female organs. It is not distended... however it is tighter than normal... I think. Her resp rate is 108 beats per min +-4. Her resp rate is very irregular... fast fast fast slow/deep fast/shallow fast fast slow .... but she is NOT panting. Today she is lethargic. To me... she seems like she is actively dying.... but from what? It is very hard for me to take her to a vet knowing I will have to refuse treatment that could save her.... because of an extreme cost. She has had a good life. Is there anything this could be..... that y'all can think of... that is just an easy fix if I go to the vet.... given the info I have provided. BTW... no fever.... no sign of infection in the wound from where they groomed her. It could just be a weird coincidence but I had to mention it. PLEASE DON"T TEAR ME A NEW ONE. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY IF I COULD I WOULD.... IT IS A HORRRIBLE RUN OF AWFUL LUCK WITH MY ANIMALS.... IT HAS DRAINED ME! I SAVED MY GOAT WHEN THE DOCS SAID..... LET HER GO... AND IT WORKED.... I WOULD DO IT IF I COULD WITH HER. |

| No judgment from me, but it's impossible to diagnose a dog from a description on the internet. I doubt that the symptoms are related to the leg cut at the groomer's, but you never know. It could be an infection that's easily treated with an antibiotic. It could be a neurological disorder. It could be luxating patella. It's impossible to know without a trip to the vet. Please try to get Chloe in to see a vet, and if you have trouble paying for a simple examination, explain to the vet staff that you are short on funds at the moment, but Chloe really needs to see a vet. Hopefully it's nothing serious or expensive to treat. Good luck, and let us know what happens! Last edited by pstinard; 06-10-2016 at 10:09 AM. |

| impossible to diagnose I realize it is impossible. However if anyone can... some of the people on Yorkie talk can. I can tell you it is not luxating patella.... I'm familiar w/ that unfortunately. It would seem like hip dysplasia but it isn't... definitely nerve related.... imho. She started looking glassy eyed today too. I'm just looking for thoughts. NOOOOO VET ANYWHERE lets you pay it out... that I have ever found. IF I hadn't had a run of bad luck with them lately it wouldn't be a problem. HOWEVER..... last time... I had just paid for a surgery for a horse, surgery for a goat and they wouldn't let me do that for the dog WHEN SHOT... and was an emergency. THAT took applying for care credit which I did and immediately maxed out! (I don't like the system that the vets are allowed to know your available credit limit because I believe it is maximized but... maybe I'm cynical now). Vets in the old days..... didn't try to run up the bills. |

| I don't know what to say about it! However as you said she is dying why don't you push your luck and go to the vet to know the cause of what happen to your puppy, If I were you i'll do my best and go to vet even if you don't have much money. Glassy eye? It's a obvious sign that you need to go and look for vet now. Only vet can help you with your problem right now! I Pray for your dog hope she can make it. There are some vets who can help you with only small coast. Don't lose hope. |

| update Well... as long as the b complex was in her she chased the ducklings... played like a puppy.. as soon as it wore off.... she went back down hill. I am not taking her to the vet because I don't have money.... I make money so I don't qualify for aid... even as an army widow with 4 kids... however I have just had 1 pet emergency after another for several months... I have a farm. I do what I can... I keep money set aside for vet bills... who thinks that many things will happen in a row?? I have $27 to live off of until I get my next check 4 weeks of the month. Sooo... when I say I don't have money... It isn't that I just don't want to 'waste' it... it is that I don't. TRUST ME... my daughter bawling ... holding her best friend who is a huge link to her daddy who passed away.... her baby since she was 4 1/2.... was not easy. It made me feel like a very inadequate mom. I hope you don't face it just because of your judgement. I came here.... because I KNOW there are vets here. I know there are people who know more about yorkies than any vet I know.... and I know there are just people who have yorkies and like to condemn others. FOR ME to post or even sign on to this site for the first time in 7-8yrs.... took NEEDING and answer and being desperate enough to know there would be people that thought it was horrible I didn't rob a bank to get her care. She is 10. She has had a great life. I hope we have her another 10.... but she.... at 4lbs... wouldn't have made it that far if I hadn't done a pretty good job so your comments don't bother me... it just makes me sad when my daughter reads them and sees how the world is. So... if you can help... please do... if you can't... leave your comments if you much.... but all I have to say about that is KARMA IS A B.... keep that in mind. |

| Gee my heart hurts for you...and for you pup as well. Could you just call a vet and just ask how much a visit would cost and go see what they tell you? There might be more you can do that is pretty reasonable. Wish I were a vet and could give you more advise/information.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This poor dog is clearly suffering terribly and has even SCREAMED in pain, which means the pain had to be just excruciating. Dogs only scream when the pain is excruciating...bc usually they mask so much of the pain. PLEASE, either surrender this poor innocent being to a rescue ASAP or have this poor baby euthanized if you won't get vet care. I don't see any other options. By the way, you say above you "know there are vets here" -- just fyi, I don't know of any vets here whatsoever, so I don't know where you're getting that information. Please, please, please do not let this little one suffer. If you love this pup at all, you would do something about it...one way or another.

| I am not afraid of karma. You need to stop letting your pup suffer. this is abusive. Period. Take her to the vet and euthanize her if you cannot save her. OR contact a rescue to see if they can help. There is NO EXCUSE here to do this to a living being and to tell us not to say that to you? Please

| This just breaks my heart. I truly understand the money issues, I just lost my yorkie, but not before I ran up a HUGE debt trying to save her. As the human, I think it is our responsibility to be their voice and take care of them. I would like to point out that your child is learning a lessen on responsible pet care at this moment in time. It is up to you what that lesson will be!!! I'm sorry you aren't getting the answers you want, but in your heart you know this 4 pound baby needs to go to the vet. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | There is literally nothing we can do here. We can only throw words at your heartbreaking situation. You could drop her off at a shelter and have them treat or euthanize your dog. That would be much kinder than letting her suffer. Or if you have the means and the courage you can shoot the dog yourself. Again much kinder than letting her suffer. THe problem could be neuro - and none of neuro is cheap.

| How sad but I think you need to see a vet ASAP. I have been broke many times to save my last yorkie and really if I had to do it again saving her I would. People like you maybe should not have animals if you can not afford them or do not want to go broke. To me my yorkie is my child would you let your human kid suffer? Well that is all I have to say I just wished people like you would not write on these forums and upset us people because of your dog suffering. I could not live with myself seeing my pets suffer!
