| Urohydropropulsion For Bladder Stones I have dealt with many medical issues over the years with several of my dog's past and present, BUT I have never experienced Bladder Stones. My Willow was just DX'd with bladder stones. We actually found them when she was her abdomen was x-rayed last week due Pancreatitis. This Friday they want to do the Urohydropropulsion, putting in a catheter and filling her bladder with saline and pushing the stones out of the bladder, IF that doesn't work then they will have to do the Cystotomy on her. Has any one here ever had the Urohydropropulsion done on their dog and if so how did it go??? As it stand right now we are almost 99.9% certain these stones are Calcium Ox stones as she has the Calcium Ox crystals in her urine. But will know when they are sent off. Never once has she any signs of having bladder issues, no infection, no UTI , no straining to pee.

| Sorry I didn't see this until now. teddy had this procedure over a year and a half ago. He did great. Teddy had three small stones removed and the next day peed out a bunch more! He hasn't had a recurrence of stones so far. His were calcium oxalate and I've been told that once a stone maker, always a stone maker. I have been checking him every 3-6 months with ultrasounds in order to avoid surgery. He went on a home cooked diet for calcium oxalate said, I'm sure they told you that the dog needs to be on that for life. Most people go with Hill's u/dr Royal Canin SO (canned) foods but there are others that are used. I opted to home cook and if he remains stone free, I'm going to just keep doing what is working. How did your dog do?

hydropropulsion as the catheter wouldn't go into her bladder. So, she had to have the surgery. They are 99% sure these are Calcium stones, but we won't know for until the results come back. The stones were sent off to the Univ of Minn. for testing. As for her food we will have to walk a fine line on that one, since she is prone to pancreatitis, and most RX foods for stones are high in fat.Right now she is on RC Low Fat canned food. She is doing fine since surgery, but it has only been 2 1/2 day's. When she pee's it still has blood in it, but I was told that was to expected. She will get her stitches out in about 10 day's. Having a dog with stones if a 1st for me.

| Oh that's too bad. The foods definitely are higher in fat, but there are other options. I home cook and Teddy eats lower fat for this problem. He has not had pancreatitis but I didn't want to risk it. I did a consult with a vet nutritionist and have the list of other suitable Rx foods but they're less preferred options. I have not had any issues with my home cooked diet with stone recurrence. PM me if you want to chat more about the foods.

| My lil boy went through the same thing back in July 2015. Thankfully everything went well. I'm glad your baby is doing well. Prayers for a speedy recovery. I have my boy on a prescription food for now but would definitely like to switch him to home cooked or raw. I think he's tired of the pescription food. Recently I've been hearing about a company that ships raw food and u can give raw or cook it lightly. Allprovide is name of company. Has anyone tried them? |

| Ok thank you for the suggestion. My boy had a Struvite stone. I'll discuss different options with his vet at our next appt and go fr there. I'm still nervous about making changes though. It's only been six months since his surgery so I definitely want to play it safe for my Toby. |

| Karlee has stones I know this thread is from last year, but I'm bumping it up in hopes that some of you will update what you are doing to treat, and how it's working. Karlee has stones and I am just now learning about them, and going through the process of determining if she will need surgery or be treated with diet. I will update as we go along. Thanks for sharing info.

Scary time for us. But she recovered, and is fine now. She will be on Royal Canin Urinary SO diet for life, and have periodic checkups so hopefully she will not get the struvite stones again.

| My senior , Spenser, had bladder stone surgery two weeks after we adopted him last December. His stones were calcium oxilate He has been on Royal Canine prescription food. He did very well after the surgery. Our vet wanted a follow up X-ray every 6 months. Last week at 12 months post surgery, the X-ray showed one small stone. The vet put him on an antibiotic, did a urine culture test in case a urinary infection had contributed to the development of the stone. He goes in Friday for a repeat X-ray. We will also get the results of the culture and blood work. One thing that has worked out well is using a slow feeder bowl. Spenser does not like water. However, we float his RC food in it and he loves it. That assures he will get enough water. We are hoping the stone will pass..........here’s hoping. Gew |
