YT Addict | Thank you all so much! I sure do love my little girl! It's hard to believe that one year ago this week we learned of her diagnosis. But... I think she's been a little warrior, and has been doing great! Thank you all for thinking of Tinky and keeping her in your prayers |

| I just read through this entire thread. It appears that Tinkerbell has had a heck of a year, but all things considered is doing very well. Do you realize that today is exactly one year from your first post here about Tink? Happy anniversary! I decided to read this thread because I'm just starting out with a very similar problem with my little old timer, Max. He's diabetic and on insulin for a number of years now, but he just started walking around like he's drunk. Going the wrong way often, walking into walls, falling over without any warning. Two vet visits in the last four days. Max's blood glucose was 39 the first day and 34 today. Both readings were 6 hours after his last meal and insulin shot. Right now the doc has him on NO insulin and I am having to give him syrup or ice cream every few hours when he starts acting like his sugar is too low. I'll have to mention Insulinoma to his doc and see what she thinks. Max will be 13 next month and has had a tough life. I posted a bit about him when I got him. Since then he has had both knees replaced, a hip replaced, and he went blind about five years ago. We lost his "brother", Rocky a year and a half ago. Rocky was 17. I really am having difficulty accepting that Max is so sick now. Anyway, I mainly wanted to post my happiness reading all of this thread about Tink and to wish you all well. Keep taking care of that little one! Take care. Jim |

I'm so so sorry to hear about Max. From what you say, it does seem like Insulinoma is a likely possibility. I think there is also Addison's and Cushing's disease that can cause low blood sugar as well. Tinky was diagnosed through a blood test for Insulinoma. I wonder if you could increase your feeding time. Tinky eats every 4 hours. And, we have checked her sugar 4 hours after eating and it will even be in the 30's. But, she acts no different, and her vet says that her little body has just adjusted to it. Is Max a foodie? I have all sorts of "options" for Tink to get her to eat: chicken breast, Hills I/D, Royal Canin, cottage cheese, apple, banana, and egg whites. I sure hope you can find peace with Max's condition, I know it feels like we aren't doing enough, when in reality, we are doing all that we possibly can. Thank you for your kind words on Tink, I hope and pray Max can improve. Thank you so much!!! | |

| Hello all. Sorry I haven't posted replies back recently - Comcast stopped forwarding my email for some reason; I didn't realize it until a little while ago. I am sorry to say that my Max died on Friday, 11/20/2015. I had him in for my vet to double check his blood glucose and Max was so beat she did a full blood panel and a few other tests. His kidneys were in failure - or failing. I'm not even sure anymore. But the poor little guy was sleeping all the time and had no energy at all. Breaking my heart. Especially since my Rocky died last April at 17 years. (Max would have just turned 13 this week). Anyway thanks to everyone and love your yorkies. Take care. Jim |
