| Vet approved human meds. I received this from a vet and thought I would pass along if anyone is interested.I know this information is probably listed somewhere on YT but I had never seen dosages listed all in one place. This doesn’t take the place of calling your vet but in an emergency situation may be useful.Just thought I would share.

| Human Meds for Dogs Thank you so much for this. My little guy was vomiting last night. He is only 6lbs so I gave him 1/4 teaspoon. So far, he has not vomited again. I will not feed until tonight and then boil some rice for him and see how that works. Fingers crossed. |

| This has been passed around on the internet. The only thing I have to say about it is that, as you said, one should always consult with your vet prior to giving any meds. The benadryl dosage is much lower than what I have been told to give....so that is another reason to question this. Too little benadryl may not get the desired benefit. Most vets are more than happy to answer the telephone questions of their clients. Those of you who find this useful should take it to your vet next time you go and ask for feedback on it!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's always very important, imo, to have a doggie ER kit for at home...and having some common meds on hand is part of that equation...as well as knowing their proper doses. Always double check w/ your vet, as LadyJane mentions. The dose I have always been told for Benadryl from my regular vet and my Vet Derm is 1-2mg/pound. Benadryl is a very important med - it can literally save your dog's life if there is a severe allergic reaction -- (to a bee, a scorpion, fire ants, whatever)...so def know the dosage and have it on hand and/or if you travel w/ your doggies.

I use regular, adult Benadryl - I have both the pills (pre-cut, in case of emergency) and the liquid (to use in case of severe allergic reaction where their throat may be closing up and may not be able to swallow the pill). Below is another dosage chart too, in case you want more than one...it has an example of how to calculate dosages as well.
