Your puppy may clearly have an ear infection. My maltese did the same thing.. I thought it was allergies so I didn't say anything. But when he went for his check up they say she had an ear infection. I was so ashamed I let it go on that long. They said sometimes they have too much hair in their ears. They gave me so drops, did a follow two weeks later and he was just fine.

There you go again.....one day perhaps you will realize that some of these people get on here wanting us to play vet and we are not vets. I personally found her to be rude to people who were trying to help.

No one did a thing to her.

And, furthermore, if you want an update and feel that "we" sent her away, why don't you send her a private message asking for an update. Perhaps she will respond to your nice message.

I always try to be helpful and supportive to people on here who have questions since I have many questions myself. But when she flat out lies ("I contacted every single one") when people give her advise to go to a vet asap, and multiple people are able to find one in her area, it's hard to feel sympathy for her. I just hope her pup got to the vet and is feeling better.

Hi and Welcome to YT! Just now seeing this thread... It's hard to recommend anything for the ears as some things may do more harm than good, depending on the severity and cause of the issue. Meds from the vet will contain painkillers which is the only thing I know of that will help your pup.

When I got my Tink as a 2 year old, her ears were very scabby and the ear flaps had become thickened... all she wanted to do was scratch. I had her to the vet the day I adopted her, but the vet only gave her an ointment for the scabs, which were secondary to the reason her ears were itching. I kept an E- collar on her all the time to prevent her from further injuring herself... the vet actually chastised me for doing this, lol. She spent the night at the hospital (for something unrelated) and I was told they had to put the E-collar back on her for the overnight, she was just scratching so badly. The vet said to give the meds a week or so to soften up the scabs, but it gave her no relief. As she came from the Humane Society, she had picked up Sarcoptic mange, which can start at the ears. After treatment with Revolution, her ears improved rapidly.

As a first time puppy owner, it's hard to tell sometimes what to do or not to do. In general, anything with the ears, eyes, vomiting or bleeding, pain or discomfort, needs to go the vet asap, especially with very young puppies. I hope your pup is on the mend.

I'm sure she's gotten the dog to the vet by now and a diagnosis made, treatment started and the dog is already doing better than it was, if nothing else from the vet cleaning out all that brownish ear wax and junk ears can build up. Probably started on medication for the sores and itching plus the ear mites or whatever was causing the intense itching and maybe even antibiotics. When you wait this long, the vet usually hits the situation with a broad spectrum of treatments to help the dog quickly and cover all the bases. Taking the dog in earlier would probably have been far cheaper in the long run. But I'm sure the dog is getting treatment and going to be better very soon.

Try not to worry about how the OP took any of our remarks - we were trying to make her understand how awful intense itching is and why she needed to get the dog help no matter how difficult or far she needed to go to do it and asking why she wasn't quicker to act or prepared to get her dog help sooner. You know how some members get offended when that type of situation arises and we all get passionate over the suffering dog, though we never try to hurt their feelings but intend only to do nothing more than make the member think hard about their dog ownership responsibilities and consider things from the poor dog's point of view. And you know many new posters don't ever return or post more than a few times. You didn't do anything wrong.

She was accusing others of doing something wrong. She had not posted on this thread prior.

Thank you, but I did nor said NOTHING to apologize for, so please do not speak for me. If I apologize for anything I did or said, I do it MYSELF.....I do not need a "mouth piece". This apology you have extended does NOT include me.

Ummmm ok...believe me I was NOT trying to be your mouth piece..I thought this was YT not Facebook with all the drama. Grow up...some things are better left unsaid and your statement was one of them. I was only trying to make the person feel welcome. I'm not in the business of hurting peoples feelings.. Thx

THIS was the first comment on this thread that was rude. How about someone apologize for HER being rude to YTers who were trying to help?

Please re read all the posts....no one said anything to her that needed an apology. What are you specifically referring to about "somethings are better left unsaid" and my statement was one of them????? I AM grown up and do not need someone that is clearly not able to understand when a response to another poster is in no way rude, crude, inappropriate, unkind, unjustified, or capable of actual insulting anothers feelings. There were many people that responded to this person....trying to encourage her to seek vet help for her pup. Do you understand if someone had told her to irrigate that dogs ears, and the eardrum had been perforated, and sludge and ear wax and mites, etc., were washed into the dogs inner ear, she would have returned with a vengence, acusing that person that was just trying to help, of "practicing vet med without a license" and causing her pup much harm. She probably could have found a lawyer that would have jumped on that like a duck on a june bug! HER response to people that did not even owe her the time of day, but stopped what they were doing, sat and answered her post as best they could, was ungracious and rude. I personally called vets long distance from Houston, to see if she could get help for her pup....what did YOU do to help her pup????....help was available to her if she had wanted to avail herself and her pup to it.....emergency vets were open. HER response to strangers that were trying to give her direction, was "Thanks for nothing"!!!!!!!!!!! You want to tell people to "grow up"??? Tell the OP!!! You want to apologize for someone??? Apologize to all the members of YT, on behalf of the ungrateful, ungracious poster, members that were trying to help her..... we did NOTHING wrong to this poster! Again, what help did YOU provide to her, other than insult and chastize concerned, caring YT people that were actively assisting this person. We are NOT vets and can NOT legally provide free vet services, sight unseen, to anyone. You tell the wrong person, the wrong thing, and it causes more problems to their pup or even kills it, and you will "grow up" and understand just how far you can go on line, dispensing medical advice in situations you have no clue what is going on!

You know you are so rude no where did I accuse anyone of doing wrong and if i was i would have quoted them. I think the Op did take the advice the wrong way but I also think some of the advice took the wrong tone but it was like one person out of everyone that posted but thats enough to send an upset op away. I just wanted an update and Im sorry you think so I dont see anything wrong with that

Not the first time you have done this. I personally think that you are the rude one, but whatever. Just chalk it up to mutual non-admiration.

If a person leaves this forum, it is because they choose to. Period. She pretty much summed it up when she said "thanks for nothing". She did not get what she wanted...something that no one could give her.
