| Piper Girl and Trifexis We have been racking our brains as to what may have happened to Piper Girl to make her so sick. This morning I was on the phone with Linda Freedman. I was telling her about Piper and Piccolo taking Trifexis. And we snapped. Even tho it is not proven to be the cause. But, seems like a lot of dogs have died of liver failure after taking Trifexis. Even tho Piper and Piccolo are both under 5 lbs. My vet said it was ok to give to them. The reporst say the dogs who died already had an underlying condition. Well, my Piper Girl may have Microvascular Dysplasia. Did this stuff almost kill my baby? So my question to all of you is. Have you or are you used/using Trifexis?

| No I would not use it. I use Sentinel for HW Preventive. Since they are both under 5lbs, why in the would your Vet say it was OK?? I have heard too many stories about Trifexis and I won't use it.

| I used once and one of mine became sick soon after taking it. Some dogs do OK and some have a reaction to Triflexis.

| Piper's vet was going to do the Pro Heart injection today .... that is how this discussion started. I now wonder if the Trifexis was the culprit with Piper's recent illness....

| Funny how my Vet actually recommended this shot yesterday for Piper. And they recommended the Trifexis. I was worried about the Trifexis since she and Piccolo were under the recommended lb weight requirement. But, my vet said it would be ok. I have a lot of research to do on this Trifexis. You do what you can to take care of your babies. I would hate to know that something recommended from my vet almost killed my Piper Girl. Guess I won't be getting much work done today.

| I think Ellie May might know a lot about this subject so hopefully she'll be along and offer comments. I've always used interceptor and when it was discontinued I started to use heartgard. I personally feel heartgard is very safe.

| Actually, it didn't take me longer than 3 mins to find at least one vet attesting to the safety of the product. I would just call Dr Jones and ask him.

| Zoey took trifexis for several months but the vet changed to Combo Guard because it was cheaper than Trifexis - anyway, that was the reason they gave me. After a few months of this one Zoey threw up after taking the pill (given with food). She is taking a different Combo Guard and I have to give her a topical flea/tick med. so far, so good. How soon after giving Piper the Trifexis did she get sick. I would certainly discuss this with the vet.

| She had take in twice. It was time to give her her next one when she got sick.

| Yes. When I questioned him about the weight he said it would not be a problem.

| Yorkietalk needs a smiley for "face palm." It *might* not have been the Trifexis that caused Piper's problems, but at this point it can't be ruled out, and it's definitely worth looking into to prevent future problems. |

I was horrified....I would not give that to a healthy dog. I don't care that they swear it is ok now...too many dogs died from it. Never, ever going to happen to my pups.
