Bobbi, I was glad to see this post. I've been following along with Piper's story and although she could have underlying MVD, it is virtually impossible to determine this with everything else going on with her as result of her toxic exposure and/or infectious process.

The fact remains that the statistics in the breed are grim as to MVD -- now called PVH or Portal Vein Hypoplasia -- and liver shunt, and I recently posted an article that is very educational and informative in the health and diet forum from the Univ of TN who are leaders in this disease.

As for Piper's breeder, I agree that she should be knowledgable about the breed. But, the fact that she didn't know what it was could also illustrate that she has not had other dogs w/ this problem. Many of us here have also bought dogs with medical conditions - I myself have a dog with two concurring brain diseases, two concurring orthopedic diseases, and a rare bladder stone problem. So I certainly understand your fire and your fury and the strain of financial expenditures beyond what one thought they would spend on their pet. Despite this, I have learned over the last 5.5. years with my Teddy that my anger toward his breeder is wasted energy and a futile waste of my time. They are never going to change...we are the ones that have to...to find those very special breeders who do care, who do strive to do things right, and who do stand behind their dogs and their lines for the love of the breed and as smart business people. They are out there, but I know that they are few and far between.

Kind of busy this morning...

Just want to say that someone definitely forgot to tell Piper she is sick! Bless her heart....if her spirit has anything to do with healing she will be good as new in no time.

She is a little doll....socializing with my pups. My Armani is totally enamored by her. :) She ate scrambled eggs and tilapia this morning! :) She is quite picky about her food but we will figure it all out and make sure she eats enough! Thanks Cathy/107barney for some tips!

so glad to hear she is so spunky, what a cutie and how nice that Linda offered to help with her weekday care, she could not be in better hands.

lil Piper the warrior girl, such a fighting spirit she has, relieved to hear she is doing good and eating. Piper will remain forever in my prayers.

Piper has made herself right at home. :) One of my pups' favorite spots in my house is the crate in my office where they used to hang out with Gabby. Miss Piper went right in it this morning and rearranged the blankets to her liking and is presently napping. Teddy and Lovey joined her ...

So happy to hear she has settled in nicely. The photos are adorable. Piper knows a good thing when she sees it, and it is wonderful she is enjoying herself in Linda's home.

Piper looks great ! Are you sure that's the same little Yorkie that was so sick last week ? lol I'm so happy she's doing so well. She's in good hands and looks like she's made some everlasting friends too. :)

She looks great and sure doesn't act like she feels bad. Who'd have thought last week she'd be looking and acting so normal today? Pretty amazing story and she looks like she's fitting right in with no stress or worries to her name. She's one plucky little survivor!!!

What a sweet lil warrior girl, she must be soooo happy to be out of that cage, to walk free in grass, how wonderful to see how adjusted she is with Linda and her new friends. She is an inspiration to all, to NEVER GIVE UP, and find the BEST treatment there is out there.

Piper is adorable running around and snuggling! I think it was the 3rd video where she runs up alongside Cookie. Too cute! Happy to hear and see she is doing well. :)

Oh my goodness....how precious is that!!! I do hope and pray she continues to thrive, she is so very feisty...a tiny little fighter. Sorry you weren't able to see her today...but thanks to Linda you got your Piper fix in pics and videos, as did the rest of us. Loved getting to see her...life is good.

I have to say. Last night is the first full night of sleep that I have had since Piper got sick. Knowing she is in such loving hands. Linda, has been a God send to us. I could never thank her enough for everything she has done.

You are truly blessed to have a trusted friend to care for lil warrior girl Piper. You have been under much stress with this roller coaster ride you have been on. You need that break and some rest. Spoil!!!! if that was my lil girl, she would be put on a pedestal. she is a true fighter. Piper will remain in my prayers forever, for her never to have to go through this ordeal ever again.

Oh she is going to be put on a pedestal when she gets home. With steps so she don't jump off and hurt herself. House will be puppy proofed. Play yard already in place. New harness and leash for those walks outside with mommy. If I think It will hurt her or Piccolo, out it goes. I could never have my babies go thru this again.

Good girl, I know you will be happy to get this lil sweetheart home, I can't wait for that, when you have 2 babies they bond, when one is missing they pine for their buddy, Piper will be soooo happy to be with her mommy, daddy and her brother. It gave me such joy to see your lil girl walking on Linda's grass, so happy she is out of the cage and free to roam about. My baby was at vet for 10 days, caged, when he came home he wouldn't come in the house, all he wanted was to run and roam free in his yard.

I've been following this thread & the transformation is amazing. How heartwarming to hear about the assistance & love Piper has received from the YT community. Continued health for all of our babies.........

Bobbie, I'm so happy for you and Piper, that she's recovering so well. I've not seen such a miracle as I have in your precious baby and I'll continue to pray for her recovery. I'm so glad Linda's there to spoil your baby but don't worry, I won't tell her that I agree with you! :D
