| My Piper stopped eating and drinking Monday morning she was fine. I get home from work and she is not herself. Other than when she sees our cat and does her booty dance around the cat. I took her to the vet Tuesday morning. Will add this. My DH gave her some human food Sunday morning. So the vet thinks this may be the cause. It is Wednesday and I had to force her to drink water. She still will not eat anything. No more vomiting and has not had diarrehea. We have her on antibiotics and anti-vomiting meds. She just wants to lay down and sleep. She hides under the sofa if she can. She is only 5 months old and has not had any problems so far. I'm worried about her not eating. If not better soon, She will be back at the vet. Any ideas or suggestions on getting her to eat? FYI - Vet gave me ID can food for her. |

| did you try boiling plain chicken break it into tini bits and mix it in with the hard food with a bit of warm water. see if that helps get her motivated. mine are very picky eaters and I have to mix soft food or boiled chicken in to mix it up and keep them interested. hoping you baby girl eats and is back to herself soon.

| So basically your vet is guessing on the diagnosis. If she thinks it was from the food, my guess is that she thinks it may be pancreatitis...or some sort of gastroenteritis. Usually a dog will have vomiting when they have pancreatitis, but not always. Blood work gives a better picture in my opinion. Whenever my pups are sick, I have my vet check their blood work. I certainly would not let this go on much longer. If she is hiding, she is probably uncomfortable and pancreatitis is very painful. You also need to be concerned about dehydration. Check her gums to be sure they are moist when you touch them...if not, then she needs to go back to the vet.

| So, I took Piper back to vet right after posting. She is there and they are running test on her. X-rays came back good. She is not dehydrated. Did say that when they drew blood that they had a hard time getting it to stop bleeding. So sitting here at work waiting on the call. Please keep my Piper girl in your prayers. |

| Good for you for getting her to the vet originally and taking her back when she didn't start getting slowly better and I'm so glad she is getting blood tests. I agree with you that this is likely from your husband feeding her the human food - food that her system couldn't handle and it either inflamed her pancreas or possibly, just irritated a place in her intestine or colon and she developed gastroenteritis. If her blood tests are WNL, it's probably the latter. But you for sure need to get a diagnosis vs. differential diagnosis(es) when you go to the vet when a dog is vomiting, anorexic or even drinking water and lethargic. Of course part of the lethargy may be from her taking medicine, as even antibiotics make Tibbe sleepy but she probably just feels too ill and weak to do much of anything but sleep. I hope you've had "the talk" about human food with DH as human food, as dramatic as it sounds, can be deadly for some Yorkies. I hope little Piper feels better soon.

| Update on Piper. She didn't eat anything yesterday. No vomiting or pooping. They changed the food and she ate a little and drank some water. She is a little perkier this morning. So said we are headed in the right direction. They are suppose to be getting results faxed over from the specailty lab and are going to call me when they get them in. |

| Well got lab results back. Looks like Liver Shunt or liver failure. Need to take her to a specialist to find out for sure. |
