| Those kinds of injuries can be painful and debilitating until significant healing takes place. Can't recall, were you giving some gentle stretching exercises to start after a while to keep the muscle a bit mobile?

I am letting her walk a little bit in the house, but not very much. I thought that would help to keep her leg toned a bit. What do you think? I would like to thank everyone. I've never dealt with a sprain before and this seems to be a humdinger, so to speak. She screamed when it happened and those of you who have had one get hurt know the scream I'm talking about. I was in another room and didn't see it happen. I'm not sure yet, but I do think I see a tiny bit of improvement this morning, but it isn't very much. I think I see her standing on it a little. The only other injury she has had was when she tore the cruciate ligament in her right rear leg in two on Thanksgiving Day afternoon, 2008. She had surgery and was fine after eight weeks and has never had any other problem with that leg. This is the left rear leg.

| I'd ask the vet if there is anything like that you should be doing just in case. If she's putting it down and a bit of weight on it, though, that might not be necessary but you can check with him just to be sure.

| I suppose I should post an update on my gimpy puppy. She is able to walk a little better today, not a lot, but she definitely feels better. I think I'm going to discontinue the 25mg Vetprofen. Her tummy was making little squeal-like noises this morning and she wouldn't eat. I'm afraid it upsets her tummy. She's had it three days in a row. I gave her half of an anti-acid and she was feeling better shortly, then she wanted to eat. I'm thinking it was the Vetprofen anyway. She has been feeling so much better that I had to block the living room off, because she went in there and was bouncing up and down trying to get on the couch. That is her favorite lookout, so she isn't very happy about that. She is resting now.

| I'm so glad your little patient is doing better today, although now the fun begins trying to convince her to take it slowly. I can picture Kacee looking at the barrier to the living room thinking, "those things are for babies, not me!" Praying that she will be 100% and back to long walks and hanging out at her favorite lookout in no time.

| Thank you both. She's sleeping like a baby right now and has been for quite awhile.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I'm not sure how warm it is in Kansas, but a kiddy pool would be great exercise for her and her leg. Baring that your bath tub, filled with just lukewarm water. I do know that not all pups enjoy the water, and I keep on posting this type of remedial for many types of injuries, for conditioning, for aerobic workouts, for strength building. And while I think of this; a gentle suasion to do all you can to get your pups used to water; even if they don't become great swimmers, they overcome fear of water, and can splash happily in knee high water. Then when it is ideal to use water as a therapy tool, you don't need to overcome their fear of the water. A big step forward on that remedial plan. Our Zoey really could take or leave water. Oh she enjoys on a super hot day to splash in the shallows, but even after 2 summers of going to the lake bi or trice weekly, it was only last summer, when we were at a cottage for 7days straight, that on the Very Last Day, she finally committed to swimming on her own, out for that toy she ached for all wk but wouldn't swim out to get!. She was coached by Mom over several summers, she had life jackets on, she got introduced slowly to the water; but no deal Mommy I don't wanna go out there over my knees!. So a natural water gal she is not! But it can be done with persistence and patience (mainly on your part).

| Thank you all! My little Muffin loved the water, but Kacee thinks of it as something she'd rather avoid. She's still sleeping and has been off and on all afternoon. She just needs to rest that little leg for as long as possible.
