♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | So glad he is coming home..it is a very bad situation. But her dog was off leash and attacked so I would hope she would not argue she was responsible. Give him lots of hugs and praying he is back to normal real soon..

| I am so encouraged to hear Gatsby is doing pretty well and come home. When Jilly was in the same situation, I was able to go in late to work and take time off to care for her - it was that or quit the job. Thankfully they understood and worked with me. She had to have her wounds bathed in warm water twice a day and medication given and she just did beautifully. Then, once released and we took our fist walkies, I was so worried she would be scared of other dogs but she wasn't - at all! She laid right into bossing a German Shepherd back from its own fence her first walk out. Her bossy attitude is probably what got her attacked in the first place. The Dalmatian(out of its yard and off leash, of course) was running over to us and Jilly advanced in front of me, barking, and the Dalmatian turned its attention to her and swooped her up in its mouth before I even could bat an eyelash. Suffice it to say, had this owner - me - been more aware of Jilly's body attitude and that of the advancing dog, I could have swept her up in advance of the attack and likely diffused the situation by keeping her still and quiet and walking away as I watched the dog out of the corner of my eye. But, at the time, I was unprepared and take by surprise - strange for a person who has been around and cared for so many big dogs - but it happened. So I hope your Gasby does as well as Jilly did. I also called the police and Animal Control who took the report over the phone and visited the Dalmatian owner, requiring them to take the dog in voluntarily for quarantine or they would do it. The dog cleared quarantine fine and Jilly healed and we hardly missed a beat after that except I was the wiser for it as to the protective/aggressive attitude of the tiny 3 lb. dog I had! Good wishes and prayers continue for you and little Gatsby!!!

| I'm so glad no organs were punctured and that you are able to bring him home tonight. I hope all goes well with the neighbors. People need to be held responsible for their actions. They had to know that their dog was aggressive toward other dogs, unless they wear blinders.

| I am glad your dog is going to be ok. What horribly story. I am shocked by the cost. I heard this story at the dog park. A Chihuahua was attacked, by a large mixed breed, when she was being walked on a leash. The Chihuahua's family, wound up taking the owner of the big dog to court. The judge would not award the $3,200. Vet bill. He Awarded the replacement value of her property (the dog ) He asked her what she had paid for the dog orig. She said around $400.00. The judge said If the dog had died she would only have been entitled to the actual monetary value of the dog ! The judge said he was sorry she spent so much money on vet bills, but the dog was only worth $400.00 plus court costs and that is what he ordered the big dogs owners to pay. I was surprized to hear some people at the dog park talk about it , after she left. And some thought the judge was right. One guy even compared it to a car and said if someone hit your $400.00 car parked on the street, no matter how much you loved it, No Judge would order the defendant to pay $3,200, Because you choose to have it repaired with all original parts and custom paint job that cost $3,200 ! I know when my old fellow Noah had cancer we spent over $2,000 on treatments. He lived almost 3 years. He was 18 when we had to put him to sleep. I guess some people would not have chosen to have him treated. But, he was my Old Fellow and I loved him so, how can you put a price on that ?

| With respect to that last post, dogs are not like cars last I checked. What an idiot; a judge like that should be removed from his office. This is what he looked like when I picked him up. Not a pretty sight, and now he is doing some wimpering. Although they gave us two pain meds and antibiotics. Gave the report to Animal Control officer tonight and he went to talk to the family of the dog that attached Gatsby. 14 days until he can have these staples removed. After those bills, then I will hit them up or go to court including a civil violation of the leash law. Thanks again for the support, I found it very helpful. The ER gave a soft type of collar, much better than the hard plastic ones they used to give you. |

| I was just checking for updates. I just don't understand people. I think the judge was an animal hater. My dogs are not property, they are my family. How could anyone look at their sad little eyes and compare them to a car ? I wish the cold hearted debaters at the dog park, could see these pictures ! God love, little Gatsby look at that little face and poor baby's tummy. Very soft, hugs from us.

| That judge must be stupid .If a car is not totaled you absolutely have to pay to have it repaired it is only if it is totaled/dead that you get the exact value of the car. I know when the guy rear-ended me it cost a few thousand to replace my back bumper, rear windshield and fix the paint job and that was on an older car. If they want to get legalistic their property damaged someone elses property so they need to pay to fix it. That poor pup so glad he is going to be ok. |

| That poor baby! I feel so bad for him and for you. I am so glad that he didn't have any organs punctured, but that poor tummy. Such a shame that he has to go through that. I hope it works out with the corgi owners paying the vet bills with no red tape. We send get well wishes to darling little Gatsby!
