| ![]() She is home from the vet now, the vet said she did very well during the test & the results should be back by tomorrow morning. I brought in a stool sample as well & they are going to test it to make sure its normal (results also tomorrow). I am so pleased with this vet, I will never go anywhere else! Thank you all again for your thoughts & prayers! Roxy appreciates it!

| ![]() So I spoke with the vet today and he said that the results of the bile acids test were elevated. Blood taken after she ate came back at 37 (when it should be under 15). The vet is having me switch her food now to Hill's Science Diet L/D and in about 2 weeks have her come back in for another bile acids test. He thinks she may have a small liver shunt. Does anyone else have a pup with a liver shunt? and if so, could you offer me any advice? Thanks.

| ![]() Did he mention MVD? Here is a link about it: ACVS - Hepatic Microvascular Dysplasia or Portal Atresia

| ![]() I know it can be very overwhelming but here is another link for some information I feel has been very helpful for me and my situation. It sounds like your post numbers aren't high enough to indicate a surgical type of shunt but more likely MVD which can usually be controlled by a low protein diet and she can live just as long as dogs without it. You will have to be very careful what type of treats you give as well. I hope you get the answers you need. It sounds like you have a good vet that will guide you as well and that is a very wonderful thing to have!! Keep us informed. ![]() http://secure.aahanet.org/eweb/image...R%20MALFOR.pdf

I know she probably won't live to be 10 or 12 years old but I am not going to focus on that. I am going to enjoy her every day I have her. She is a sweetie pie. | |
