I know it can be very overwhelming but here is another link for some information I feel has been very helpful for me and my situation.

It sounds like your post numbers aren't high enough to indicate a surgical type of shunt but more likely MVD which can usually be controlled by a low protein diet and she can live just as long as dogs without it. You will have to be very careful what type of treats you give as well. I hope you get the answers you need.
It sounds like you have a good vet that will guide you as well and that is a very wonderful thing to have!!
