The student assigned to Summer just called to update me. They did not do full general anesthesia today since they decided to only change her dressing and clean the wound. They gave her extra pain meds and light sedation. Tomorrow they will need to anesthetize her so that they can debride it a bit more as there is still some necrotic tissue in there. They expect her to tolerate it all well at this point as she is medically stable now. |
I know she has an awful long way to go, but this does sound like a positive update for Summer. She continues to stay in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for all that you are doing for this little lady, LJ. |
Keeping Summer in my prayers. |
Checking in....still sending prayers for Summer. |
Good Morning all! Checking in for my Summer pupdate! |
Thank you for the updates LadyJane. I keep checking in to see how she is. I'll continue to pray for her. |
Just got the morning update. Summer is wagging her tail and eating well; but she does have some issues. There is still necrotic tissue in there and there are some concerns related to blood clotting factors. I just spoke with my vet's partner and he is going to call and speak with the surgeon to get a better grasp of what is going on with her. I will post when I know more. |
Wagging her tail, what a sweetheart. Praying for Summer. |

She is trying very hard to pull thru. I sure hope they can get this under control. So she can be a spoiled pup. She has a will to live and a zest for life. Sending many more prayers and hugs |
Praying hard for Summer. Can't stop thinking about this little one and what she is going through. How can people be so cruel and do these things to a little baby like this? It just hurts my heart. |
My vet called A&M this morning but the surgeon was scrubbing for surgery. He told them to tell him that Summer is doing fine! :) He will be calling him later with a full update. |
Hang in there baby!!:aimeeyork |

Afternoon Update Little Summer is really showing everyone at A&M how much fight she has! :) She handled the anesthesia well today. The wounds are looking much better. Her lung culture did show methicillin resistant bacteria but they are waiting on the sensitivity report to decide on antibiotic changes. So far the cultures of the wounds don't have anything significant showing. They feel that they will be able to close her neck wounds sometime next week and she may possibly be discharged around the end of the week. Of course that is just a guestimate but it is good to hear that they can look ahead to discharge! :) You all have been so awesome to Summer and I am so touched. After seeing her and thinking about the way she has been treated, it is so wonderful to see such an outpouring of such absolute love for her! God Bless each of you! The student assigned to Summer is going to take pictures of her for me tomorrow! :) |
