| Some of them might be able to be crushed. Would he accept that better if mixed with canned? Ellie likes to do that too. And I hate putting my finger so far back, but that's life I suppose. Some of the pills were a little big for her and she hates being pilled anyway, so what I started doing was coating them in a very thin layer of some type of wet food she could have (you could do the canned) and putting it back there that way. Slides down easier...

| ETA: Metroclopramide and Metronidazole come in liquid form. If you get desperate for an alternative, that might work for him.

| Oh my goodness! I've been having computer issues and all missed this. I knew Jackson wasn't feeling well, but I didn't know he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I'm so glad to hear Jackson is home, and you are adjusting as well as you can at this point! Just take everything slow, and I have no doubts you'll find a food that works well for Jackson that you can live with. As far as training, you could always train him with pieces of the kibble you decide upon. I'm not sure if even veggies and fruits will be no-nos now, but, if not, Rory and Lane love frozen green beans for treats, along with other raw veggies and fruits (I know you know all the ones that are toxic to pups). Costco has giant bags of organic frozen green beans that can be cooked if you prefer. Maybe you can find something like that will work. I've also heard of people baking the dog food into treats, etc, so where there is a will there is a way - no way you will have to stop training Jackson - I know how much you both enjoy it! It's so hot out right now it's probably good that he needs to take it easy for a few days. I hope he has a great recheck, and you can discuss some of your concerns with the vet!

| I learned from Crystal not to panic about reduction of pooping unless there are signs of distress. Max's regular 2x per day was thrown way off when I had to restrict his activity. Sending prayers for a good progress report from the doc tomorrow.

| Here's a tip when it comes to medication, hide it in a piece of american cheese. Works like a charm! Trust me, Austin was not a happy camper when I would make him take his meds at one point. So since he loves cheese and he's a smarty pants, he knew I hid it in the cheese but he couldn't resist. lol Good Luck!

He's going to be able to have plain boiled chicken (per the vet) soon, just not yet while we are resting his tummy, so I am confident that will work. He's never touched fruits and veggies but I will keep trying. Since he likes this RX wet food, I am sure I can do something with it to make it into a "treat". Quote:
Watch now, I'm going to one of the freaks at the vet for every little thing. I guess it's not a bad thing... This vets office has called me every day to check on Jackson. I think that is so awesome. I really am loving the staff here. It's a fairly new facility, I think it's been there for maybe 2yrs, but it even looks super nice from the outside.

| Btw, he was scratching a lot yesterday. Way more than often. You don't think it could possibly be the food? He's never eaten a food with corn/rice and barely anything with grains period except a few different treats in his lifetime... I really don't think he's allergic but I was just wondering. It seemed odd to me that he kept stopping to scratch (no collar/harness was on either, but he never scratches at those anyways).

| You can make treats out of his food. I slice the food and then cut pie shaped wedges in the slices. Put them on a baking sheet with parchment paper (prevents sticking) and bake in a 350 degree oven for 37 minutes. I make them all of the time with the R/D

I am sure it was from too much human food. Friday night he had a LOT of junk and I'm pretty sure that it triggered it. But he's consumed a lot of not-so-good human foods throughout this whole 2 1/2 years of life, lol. I think maybe his body just couldn't handle it anymore.
