Thank you!! I'll be sure to pass on all the hugs and kisses! Alexander is enjoying those much more these days. He's been letting me cuddle with him again (I think it's because he's come to expect a massage and ear rub every time ) and is so much more affectionate.

The other bedrail arrived yesterday, but I was so tired I couldn't get it put together yet. It's been over a week since he's shown signs of walking off the bed so I'm really hopeful this will do the trick. It's actually been worse since I put up that first bedrail. I think maybe that threw him for a loop and now he's adjusted to it being there. Whatever it is, I pray it keeps up!

He seemed pretty confused after we went to bed last night. He got down (by himself on the ramp) about 4 times in the first hour. Then it was like he couldn't remember how to get back up. I'd wait for a few minutes until I could tell he was getting frustrated and then I'd get up and help him back in bed. After that he went soundly to sleep. Like I said, I was so tired last night and we went to bed really early (or tried to anyway ) - it just now occurred to me that I threw his schedule off, or maybe he just wasn't ready to go nite nite yet.

Thanks for listening.

Hugs,
Bonny

It's easy to mess up "their" schedule. I do that with mine all of the time. They like things to never change.

Your happiness and excitement is contagious. I am thrilled that Alexander is doing better. I hope that Alexander continues to interact to a greater extent with you and his brothers and sisters and to do the things that he once enjoyed. This is such great news, and it really sounds like you are seeing many wonderful, positive changes in Alex. I am keeping you and Alexander in my thoughts, prayers, and heart each day, and I am pulling for both of you.

Thank you, Lisa! I'm loving the changes in Alexander....and I'm pretty sure he is, too. He's off playing in the backyard right now.

The new second bedrail isn't going to work. It works a lot like the one I put up on the other side of the bed - you have to work two latches (one at either end of the rail) at the same time in order to lower it. I can't twist my body into position to do that while I'm on the bed. So it's back to the drawing board. I haven't been able to find any bedrail that will fit on a king sized mattress and be easy to unlatch and lower with one hand.

I'm seriously looking into those bed nets. But, that'll have to wait until next payday. Alex is doing well staying on the bed right now, and I'm praying that continues.

Very happy to read the good news. Glad Alexander is also enjoying his Himalayan chews.

I think I found a bedrail that will work!! I started googling different word combinations and found this one under safety, instead of medical or children's. It retracts/extends to different lengths and the release mechanism only takes one hand, so I should be able to lower it easily during the night. It's metal but it also comes with a free cover with pockets to store stuff in, so my babies won't be able to slip past the bars. I kinda like the looks of both the metal frame and the cover, so that's just a bonus for me. Anyway, I'm supposed to get it by the end of this week.

Sorry, I know I must sound like a loon but I'm so excited! I've gone back to sleeping with with Alex attached to my by his leash/harness and I would love to have a little more freedom when I'm trying to sleep.

That's wonderful, Bonny. I understand the worry about the bed, and you are so smart for figuring out a solution for it. No matter how hard I tried with Ashley, there were still times that she fell off of the bed at times, and I'm so lucky that she never got hurt. It never occurred to me that there was a solution for it other than watching her like a hawk. You are an amazing mother! I think of both of you all of the time. Thanks for the update.

Bonny I hadn't been back in a few days and now I am so happy that I see that Alexander is doing so well! I'm in tears just reading how much better he is doing and he's even playing. That is just wonderful news. Give him a great big smooch from me. Here a for you .

The second article mentions a medication that may help but he has other medical problems that might conflict with this. IDK, I'll just have to ask the vet about that.

Alex still has a very good appetite and hasn't lost a whole lot of weight. If I just knew he wasn't suffering I wouldn't be so upset, but I don't know what he's going through.

And with his loss of coordination and difficulty getting up/down the ramps in the house I'm so afraid he's going to hurt himself badly (he gets part way up/down a ramp then stops, and when he's ready to go again I don't think he remembers where he's at and walks right of the side of the ramp ). He's walked off the side of the bed, too. I tried to start closing the bedroom door to keep him off the bed at nights, but he cried so hard and seemed so scared, I had to let him sleep with me. Now I sleep with him connected to me by a short leash so he can't go anywhere without waking me up.
Amen U made me cry and remembering my little darling Nikky. I miss her so much I still cry about her and miss her now 4 years later, and yes she did at 13 do those strange behaviors and having more like sugar attacks but the vet said it was a brain tumor which is common in small breeds in the brain. It makes me so sad reading this. God bless u all having to go through this it is not easy for they are or KIDS!!!!
