Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() Can you call around to other vets in the area and see if one of them will see you as an emergency. It can't hurt to try. I would look to see where the next closest er vet is as I don't think it can wait. Also you don't want to take him back to that stupid vet so you need to find another one asap. I hope he is ok. If he is bleeding all the time not just when he poops he needs to be seen by a good vet. Praying you can find another vet and he gets better soon.

| ![]() Please take him to an emergency vet. Sounds like a lot of blood, esp. for a small animal and I think he needs to be seen immediately.

| ![]() I'm praying for your Deucy. This is terrifying. I agree with everyone who suggested that you drive--no matter how far/long to get your baby seen tonight. Poor angel is probably in so much pain. I feel terrible for you both. ![]()

| ![]() Dogs do get enemas if constipated or if they suspect a blockage down low. However Not normally for an infection. Did you ask what the enema was for ? And you definitely need to get him to another vet or Emergency Hospital ASAP. With that much bleeding he could be dead by morning. Also you don't know where he's bleeding from so he could be hemoraging inside somewhere. So Please GO NOW ! Last edited by lillymae; 06-18-2010 at 09:30 PM. |

| ![]() Ok, so I just looked up Baytril and I found some very concerning side effects reported to the FDA so Please Go to ER. Have you given any to him ? or do you know if perhaps the vet gave him any by mouth or an injection of it at the time of the enema ? This would be good for the ER vets to know. I hope OP updates soon as this pups life is in serious danger. |

| ![]() FIrst of all....., the Vet in Girard that someone suggested in GIRARD is the one who KILLED my other baby....who was taken in for teeth cleaning. They didn't even call to tell me and when I went to pick her up thinking she had nice clean teeth, they casually said..Oh, she died...and went on about their business. I'm STILL in shock over that one and that was 8 years ago. NEVER AGAIN. I've lived in this area for 30 years and have drivin 100 miles one way to see a vet that I THOUGHT I could POSSIBLY trust.....I know ALL of the VETs around this area and have never had a good experience ....wait..I will take that back. When Deucy's wife had to have her C-section to have our two babies.....Patticake and Baker.......the Vet in Ft. Scott did a FINE JOB. So, I did call her at her home last night AFTER I had already taken Deucy back (Emergency visit) to the stupid vet that thought he needed an enema yesterday which STARTED this WHOLE MESS. I've already posted what happened at the Emergency visit with the VEt who gave him the enema. I called the Ft. Scott Vet who knew me and my animals from few years ago when I lived 20 miles from her. She doesn't have the best bedside manner but, I needed advice. I told her what all had transpired since my first visit to the Vet that caused this. She said: They could have gotton TOO AGGRESSIVE with the enema and caused some damage OR he could have had colitis and wasn't showing any symptoms UNTIL the enema...she said if I brought him to her in Ft. Scott, there would be nothing she could do to stop the bleeding. ..that it would or SHOULD stop on its own by the clotting factor. I told her about Deucy's blood work and the liver enzymes being HIGH. I've already spent over 300.00 and Deucy is now WORSE than he was. I can't describe how LIVID I am with VETS..who SHOULD know what they are DOING..for GODS SAKE!!! I have been trying to find work for over a year now and just found a part-time teaching position last January that pays 600.00 a month. That doesn't even pay my rent and utilities. I've borrowed from everybody I know and have kept track of how much I owe each person. I sold an old car I had a few weeks ago and that is what I used to get caught up on utiltiies and pay the rent for another month. I WILL SPEND MY LAST DIME to get my baby well ..........and that's a fact. I don't care if my rent doesn't get paid!!! Now, on a calmer note: After being up with Deucy all night and him STILL bleeding (I know it was hemorraging)....he seems a little better this am. I took his food away so that it would not irritate the GI tract even more and am giving him the antibioitc I TOLD the ER vet last night I wanted...Amoxy. He likes that one fine. I NEVER gave him BATRIL as I refused to do so until I learned all that I could about it. I had researched it as soon as I got home with it and found that it has awful side effects and has caused seizures in dogs and blindess in cats. I still have the whole bottle of it and will throw it away today. He's lost a LOT of blood but at least after talking to the Ft. Scott Vet last night, I feel a little better and after watching him from 5am - now, he does act better and very little blood now. I"m STILL TAKING HIM to the VEt in Ft. Scott as soon as they open at 8. It's about 55 miles and the old car I drive now overheats very quickly. I'm hoping I make it there and back and I'm REALLY HOPING that she can HELP HIM. I will write an update as soon as we return. As I have mentioned numerous times and I've told the VETS, ...........Deucy means more to me than life itself. I would KILL for him in a heartbeat. Please, continue praying for him. I know that is what has helped him through the night. Brenda and Deucy |

| ![]() wow I feel so bad for you but have to say I have not been the biggest fan of profession myself after what I have been through and now mostly deal with specialists because of it ![]() I am glad you did your homework on Baytril and thanks for sharing that as my vet gave my dd baytril and I asked isn't this the Grand Daddy of antibiotics and he said it works for diarrhea and uti but I never gave it as at the time I took her in for uti and I will not treat with antibiotic unless I know there is proven infection and of course there was no uti so glad I did not give it especially after reading this ![]() I hope your baby is ok and so sorry about your baby with the dental - sounds like they cut some corners on the dental and did not do all safety measures or they used an older anesthesia rather than isoflurine. Please let us know more about liver enzymes as liver disease runs in this breed. How old is he? Last edited by dwerten; 06-19-2010 at 05:02 AM. |

| ![]() Why wouldn't the vet be able to stop the bleeding? I don't understand. I would be very upset myself. Prayering for your baby. I hope your car makes it.
