Sick Dog Please Help!!!!!!!! We have a male dog (Bruizer) he is a 15 months old. He has always been a very healthy dog. He is 4.5 lbs. He started vomiting this afternoon a few hours ago. It was white, foamy, with some food in it. He has thrown up a total of six times in the last few hours. It is now like a brownish color, no longer white and foamy. He isn't acting sick. As a matter of fact, I'm the one who is nervous and I don't know what to do. He keeps bringing me his toy to play. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there something I can give him to calm his stomach? Any kind of information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michelle

| I wish I had advice for you, but the only thing I can tell you is to get him to an emergency vet right away. The risk of dehydration would be a major concern for me with all of the throwing up. I am sure other more experienced people will be here soon. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

We don't have a 24 hour a day vet where I live. I have left a message. He just drank some water so I'm watching him to make sure he can keep it down. He is still acting like he wants to play? It is very odd.

He threw up his water about 5 minutes after he drank it. I just got off of the phone with a hotline. The lady told me to put his food and water up for a few hours and then try just a small amount of water to see if he could keep it down. His gums are pink and he is still running around with his toy trying to get us to play with him. It is really strange. He doesn't act sick besides the vomiting.

I'm going to take him to the vet in the morning. We keep him in his kennel during the day while we are at work and then he is at home with my 17 and 16 year old daughters after school until I get home. They said they didn't notice him eating anything and we try to keep everything put up but, you never know. I'll keep you updated on how it goes tonight. If you can think of anything that I could do to help him until the morning please let me know. Thanks, Michelle

| Are his gums wet or are they dry and/or sticky?

I would put a little Karo syrup in his water so that he doesn't get hypoglycemic and just give him a few drops every 15 minutes or so to see if he will keep it down. I would plan a trip to your vet as soon as you can. Good luck and keep a close eye on him. K.

How is he doing. When they get a vomitting bit and they are a bigger yorkie not a young pup best to withold food for 12 hrs and sometimes you have to withold water for a while to if they are in a vomitting cycle as you have to stop the cycle - I then after 12 hr fast soak kibble give 3-4 and see if he keeps it down and then he lets me know when he feels better as he gets feisty barking for food Mine has ibd and pancreatitis issues so vomitting gets very scary here and i always thought to leave water down but internal medicine said no pull up water if they are vomitting alot and get them to stop the cycle then slowly give water on fingers, by bowl, or ice cube so they do not gulp it thus setting off the vomitting again - check gums to make sure not sticky and you are good to go

I took Bruizer to the vet first thing this morning. We were up and down all night The vet wants to keep him all day today. His white blood cell count is VERY high. They did an x ray and couldn't see anything there. He also has lots of mucus in his stool. She said that he probably has a GI infection. The have given him an injection of antibiotics and he is on fluids. They want to watch him today and give him another shot of antibiotics before I can pick him up this afternoon. Starting in the morning she wants to start him on oral antibiotics. She said if the vomiting starts up after I take him home to bring him back in the morning. Keep us in your prayers Thanks, Michelle

Thanks for letting us know. Hoping Bruizer feels right as rain soon. It's always scary when the little ones don't feel well. Good luck and hugs and hugs to Bruizer.

I have had Bruizer home for several hours. He is swollen from the fluids that he was given. He is acting sick now not better. I can't tell if he is really sick or just very tired from being at the vet all day. He isn't throwing up anymore but, they told me not to feed him until in the morning. They told me to give him little bits of water but, he doesn't want any. He isn't up running around at all now. He seems like he just wants to sleep. They did a cbc, xrays, fecal smear, and then they gave him fluids and the antibiotic shot. I called the vet right after I brough him home because he was so swollen and they said that was because of the fluids and not to worry that it would go away. Any thoughts?
