| Piccolo had a ton of symptoms including being lathargic for months and sores around her mouth, caused by a secondary infection to the Vasculitis. Other symptoms included a runny nose, problems breathing, and later scabs in her ears, sores on her paws, and plenty of other things, too. Prednisone - Piccolo was on high levels for nine months, under very specific care from a Vet Dermatologist. It sounds like you are getting some great suggestions about going to specialists. I hope you can do this - I did not even know about specialists at the time of Piccolo's first symptoms. Wish I had taken her sooner to a specialist and not spent months at the regular vet, since they could not figure out her problems. Again sending positive thoughts your way for a speedy diagnosis and treatment plan.

| Just got back from the vet with some good news. He doesn't think Oscar is suffering or in pain. He said that the holes in his mouth don't seem to be painful just a nusance. And the pooping and straining is just normal to him now. He is very optimistic. He said that he isn't your typical Yorkie, but he's as good as he's gonna get. It's good that he still has an appetite, still loves attention and still plays. We just have to keep an eye on everything to make sure he doesn't get any infections. He's still on prednisone 2.5mg twice a day until he gets a little better then only once a day. The vet said he doesn't like that he is on so much pred. but if it helps and is keeping him alive, it's ok. So I guess again, Oscar has proved to be a meriacle puppy. He was actually humping his toy yesterday, so that is a good sign. I guess I just have to accept the fact that I have a special needs dog and just spoil him and take care of him the best I can. Thanks again for everyone's thoughts and prayers.

| I have tried it. He loves it but with it being mushy it goes up his nose and he sneezes it out. I got a really good recipe for pumpkin cookies for the dog I'm gonna try.

| thank you very much. He is a very brave strong little guy. He is definitely a fighter. It's almost like he saw how upset I was and now he's fighting more than ever. He has more energy today and right now, I'm typing with one hand cause he wants the other one to be petting him. If I move it he nudges his head right back under my hand to continue. We increased his prednisone and that seemd to help alot. The vet said that he doesn't really like that he is on so much but if that is what is keeping him going, it isn't going to hurt him. I'm just gonna keep on spoiling him rotten and love him up as much as I can. TLC goes a long way.

| Hi, dear. I raised a cleft yorkie from five days on. He is now almost 2. I didn't have the other health issues your boy has, but I understand the frustration of anything wet being a problem. I'll be praying that the steroids help him. I don't know anything about this condition. Is it something that eventually goes away, or something you just learn to cope with? We decided not to have Zaccheus' cleft repaired. He is on only dry food and drinks primarily from a hanging water bottle. Whenever he drinks out of Cricket's bowl, I know his bottle needs filled. Zaccheus is healthy and strong, with the exception being, whenever he gets into anything that he shouldn't have, it goes into his nose. Sometimes he vomits, and he's a mess for a while because it goes into his nose, triggering a massive production of mucus, which he can't breathe through. It is scary, because then he panics since he can't breathe through his nose. BTW, I noticed that you are near me. Anytime you want to meet, I'm up for it.

| Just wanted to give an update. Oscar is doing GREAT!!! He is eating like a champ, he has energy and I think he gained some weight. This is gonna sound gross, but he has beautiful poop. It's actually formed and not just mush. I think all of the positive thoughts and prayers helped. Thank you all again. Lets just hope he keeps going in the right direction.

| That is so wonderful and answered prayers. The prednisone sounds like it is working. Yea! Is he taking Pentoxiphylline and vitamin e for the vasculitis, too? (Just curious and I forgot to ask earlier.)
