Hi, dear.
I raised a cleft yorkie from five days on. He is now almost 2. I didn't have the other health issues your boy has, but I understand the frustration of anything wet being a problem.
I'll be praying that the steroids help him.
I don't know anything about this condition. Is it something that eventually goes away, or something you just learn to cope with?
We decided not to have Zaccheus' cleft repaired. He is on only dry food and drinks primarily from a hanging water bottle. Whenever he drinks out of Cricket's bowl, I know his bottle needs filled.
Zaccheus is healthy and strong, with the exception being, whenever he gets into anything that he shouldn't have, it goes into his nose. Sometimes he vomits, and he's a mess for a while because it goes into his nose, triggering a massive production of mucus, which he can't breathe through. It is scary, because then he panics since he can't breathe through his nose.
BTW, I noticed that you are near me. Anytime you want to meet, I'm up for it.
