Another thing the vet had said was that it could have been toxin. We have been having ant problems in the house and have been using terro liquid drops for the ants. I'm afraid she had eaten some dead ants or the drops itself so I looked up the ant killer and it had said there wasn't enough toxin in there to harm a pet. Today Bella weighed in 6 lbs so I'm not sure how much toxin is too much for her.

We'll get her blood work and fecal results tomorrow. I just want my baby to feel better. Its so hard for me to see her this way.
ok keep us posted if it is a toxin then her liver enzymes may be elevated from that so just a heads up so be looking at the ALT

Bella's blood work came in today and all her major organs seems too be fine. Her fecal sample however hasn't came in yet so they'll call me back for that. I'm still worried about her right eye. Vet says it looks fine but it seems like she can't see from that side especially because she's only eating from the left side and leaves the food on the right. Also, whenever I hold up a treat on the right side, she doesn't seem to notice at all until i switch to the left. Is there any other tests to determine if it's her eye. Vet says she's responding to light in the right eye and everything.

You could try a blink test, move your finger quickly towards the eye, to see if she blinks. Do the eye in question first. Then compare to the other eye.

if you think this follow your gut and take her to an opthamologist. They will do a very thorough exam as they have the equipment vets do not and it will run 160.00 for an exam well worth it - i took dex in to be checked for dry eye and i was very impressed with the thoroughness and no stress on dog

We're going back in tomorrow morning for a bile acid test and to recheck her eye. They said we might have to be refer to a specialist for a MRI. They also want to start her on some trail meds if I wanted to but I rather not have her on any meds yet just because we can't pin point what's really wrong with her. What do you all think?

I don't know if this has been mentioned. I would not allow her free roam of the house when you're gone.

Also, there are rubber bumper type edging that you can put on edges or foam rubber on areas she's bumping on to not make her worse.

I does sound neurological. By now, I am supposing you've seen the vet. Any news?

God bless you both and I hope it isn't anything really serious.

I personally think you should listen to your vet. Someone online with no veterinary education should not diagnose your pup! Actually, a vet should not be online diagnosing because what a person tells the vet may not be totally accurate....the vet needs to SEE the pup. I would not trust anyone to diagnose my pup if they were not educated in veterinary medicine...and would not trust a vet who diagnosed without SEEING my pup. Please be careful about taking online advice!

If you are uncomfortable with what your vet is recommending, get a second opinion....from another VET!

me personally I would want to know exactly what is going on before doing any meds and did some research.

I took Bella back to the vet today because she was suppose to do a bile acid test. When Bella's normal vet (a different person looked at her yesterday) looked at her, she decided there's something else going on and decided to cancel the bile acid test and send us home so she can look more into it. So then, she called us back today and said she thinks it could be inflammatory of the brain (possibly hydrocephalus?) but would still like to do a bile acid test just in case. So another trip to the vet tomorrow. I'm really hoping we figure something out soon. If nothing comes up, we'll be referred to a specialist 3.5 hours away to do a MRI and possible spinal tap totaling around $2700 (way more than I can afford right now) but I love my baby dearly and I have no clue on what to do. It's just that I'm afraid the specialist won't even be able to diagnose her with anything.

Also, Bella's vet wants to start her on steroids and an antibiotic.

Since yesterday, I've noticed that every time I touch her right side, she'll kind of sit and lend against that side, sort of a way of protecting herself from me touching her. I've also noticed that she's been looking up a lot and tilting her head to the right now. Something's also weird with her walking also, she'll walk straight but her behind would be tilted to the left as she walks.

The thing is, she was home by herself for most of the day yesterday so I'm not sure what could have happened...like a seizure of something. I'm afriad it's some brain problems and I'm worried sick. I'm planning on calling the vet on Monday but I would like some input or anything I could ask the vet about. Thanks!

When I first got ZZ she fell down our basement steps head over butt, and hit her head a couple times on the way down. It knocked her out needless to say and after screaming and crying and trying to calm down she walked funny for 2 days (with a knot on her head) Kinda cute afterwards. My vet told me that they have very hard heads and their brain can "bounce" to that one side or the other and shake them up a little bit. He said in very small cases it can cause a neuro problem, in ZZ's case just the bump and funny walking for 2 days. I hope your case happens to turn out the same!!! Keep us updated!!!

xoxo!!
